I'm a freshman in college. I'm starting to realize that I really don't like college. I'm not a people person or a partier so the social aspect does nothing for me.
I want to write & publish books for a living and I know I don't need an English major for that. So I'm wondering...should I finish up this semester and then not go back?
If I didn't go back, I would probably go to tech and learn a trade, then get a job so I could earn money while writing & waiting to get published. Is this a good idea?
And how do I tell my parents if I decide this? I'm so afraid that they'll be disappointed in me. I've always been a good student, but I just DON'T like college.

P.S If I'm a little confusing, sorry. You can ask me to clarify if I need to.

ok i'm a senior in high school right now and have applied to colleges for next year. recently i've been hearing a lot about how a lot of people spend a ton of time partying in college and that its an amazingly fun time. however, i've always been the smart kid who no one wants to really hang out with and party with, and also went to an all boys private school for high school so i really have no social skills whatsoever...i've never been to a high school party, so i really don't know how to act. and my parents are really super strict so i'm kinda scared as to what they would say if i am partying....whatever partying actually entails. so...am I just going to be completely rejected in college and not fit in at all? or will i find a way to fit in?

p.s. i'm not saying i don't want to party....i just don't really have any experience or know what it is, so i'm just kindof lost and afraid that i'm not gonna be accepted at all in college cause i'm so confused as to how to live a college life.

Free would obviously be great but a paid site would already be a big help, there are no copies in any libraries near here.

Im thinking of doing some distance courses at home so I can stay home with my 2 year old and study when I can. Rather than have to leave her and go to college every day. Im considering childcare, teachers assistant, maybe even counselling or something involving the social care side. Do you know anything about doing courses from home. Is it difficult when you dont have class mates to compare with. Also is it very expensive. Id appreciate any feed back from someone who knows about it or have done something similar. Thanks

My son is a sophomore in college already, is wanting to change his major, but not real sure where to turn. It's a long story, but he wanted nursing originally, couldn't get in with that major, declaired surgical tech instead, was on deans list for whole year, decided to declair nursing second year of college and was accepted, however 70% of his class is failing (within nursing terms C or lower) and is so discouraged he wants to get out of it. He's a great student and always applies himself, studies well and as I mentioned earlier he was on the dean's list last year. Is there something he can fill out that might give him a better idea of what he's suitable for or would enjoy doing? In case you're wondering he's spoken with his nursing advisor.....got nowhere. It's a shame because he'd have made a great nurse, and loved his clinicals at the hospital. Got any ideas?
