If you are talking about a "mood" piece, a poem that describes the situation, then you should simply describe the situation.

What can your narrator see, when looking at the bridge? Focus on the fog, and how it softens the outlines of the bridge, or even obscures them. Are the gas-lights on? Can they be seen? Is their light reflected in the water, below? Are those lights, floating in the fog, cheery, or are they some kind of ethereal presence, mourning the conditions at the bridge? What colors does your narrator see? Go outside, at dawn, some morning, and watch the sky transform itself from the deep blue-black of night to the bright blue (or blue-gray, depending on the weather) of early morning. What is your reaction, as you watch this transformation? Are you cold? Is it wet? Are you happy or sad? If so, don't say, "I feel happy (or sad)," in your poem. Simply figure out what it is that you're looking at, that inspires those feelings, and describe those things.

Best of luck.

I poem is an expression of self.a minute a moment in reality, know only by you. in relation to your experiences and perception of it..this is not a direct thought manifestation of self. it is something from the soul which no one can tell you about. its effects but you.Relationship with thoughts, emotions, words to a poem are personal and specific.in nature.brought to life in you with your own perceptions .you must realize those perceptions. and act on them.Good luck.Kefer

I'd love to know what you mean. Poetry IS about the real world as experienced by the poet and his writing about it helps us to see it in that way.
