ok i'm a senior in high school right now and have applied to colleges for next year. recently i've been hearing a lot about how a lot of people spend a ton of time partying in college and that its an amazingly fun time. however, i've always been the smart kid who no one wants to really hang out with and party with, and also went to an all boys private school for high school so i really have no social skills whatsoever...i've never been to a high school party, so i really don't know how to act. and my parents are really super strict so i'm kinda scared as to what they would say if i am partying....whatever partying actually entails. so...am I just going to be completely rejected in college and not fit in at all? or will i find a way to fit in?

p.s. i'm not saying i don't want to party....i just don't really have any experience or know what it is, so i'm just kindof lost and afraid that i'm not gonna be accepted at all in college cause i'm so confused as to how to live a college life.

College and university life is very different from high school. You are mostly on your own. Will you be living in a dorm or apartment? Or, will you be commuting from home?

I ask this because campus housing groups provide lots of opportunities to meet and socialize with the other students. There is also fraternity and sorority life.

There are also many other organizations and groups that you may want to look into (Young Republicans, student government, etc.). There are groups/clubs for your major as well.

Don't go overboard with the partying. This will definitely affect your grades. But, give the groups a chance. You can go, grab a soda and talk with the other students and ask questions.

Also, if you are feeling lost and need help, there are counselors on campus who will help. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

College life can be a fun and rewarding experience. It's a big step from being "protected" by your folks and teachers.

It's exciting, too. Lots of new opportunities and people to meet!

There are TONS of people in college. Not everybody parties. You will come along with the options to go party, but you don't have to take them. There are many people like you who believe and education is more important then guzzling down a couple 40's. If you choose to go to a party, the decision is on you whether you want to drink or not. I would just stray away from joining a frat house....then its a non-stop party. Promise, you will be fine.

If you fight shadows , you can never win.Join college , see what happens. You are not a fossil that will remain as it was. Yoy are a human being , and that too young. You have the power to influence others and be influenced in return.
There will be no problem. Light is perpetually green for you. Go ahead and ahead and ahead.
PS. A little modesty will be of help.
