I am going to college...and I am buying a house with a mortgage. But I don't qualify for student loans? wtf?
I have been working at the same job for 2 years and I have a good credit history...at least the mortgage company thought so. They offered me a $150,000 mortgage. But why can't I get any student loans without a cosigner?

Please don't tell me to get a FAFSA and/or stafford loans etc. I already signed up for it. I am looking for private student loans that will accept me without a cosigner.

Can someone please help me and give examples on how to convince financial aid officials that I need more assistance in college. I have good gpa's, it's just that during junior years I got a GPA of 2.92. What should I do, my college will cost me about $12,000 a year, and I really like this university. What should I say to convince them (fin. aid staff) besides my father having a stroke. I know I must be so convincing, So please, can anyone help me in writing this letter to them. (no I don't want a letter itself, just help me in format, things I should say to be more convincing etc.) Please this would really help me, ever since I was in junior high I was so eager to go college, but now when I am experiencing the difficulties of it, It's becoming a burden. Please scholar, genius students, adults, I really need your help. (Plus where is a place that I can search for scholarship that doesn't require writing essay,(English is my second language, and it is a challenge for me writing one

Hey guys,
I received this scholarship like in May or something like that. I am in college... however, then document says that I need to submit a thanking letter to scholarship donors by the first week of fall 2006.... The fall semester starts on august 22nd.... but, however I haven't sent the letter yet. I feel like since I haven't sent it early could that be bad?

But, I have an excuse, I am taking 4 summer courses, 2 a and 2 b, which means that I have really been busy this summer....

Now, if I send this letter about 3 months after I have received the information that I have earned the scholarship, although meeting the deadline... is that OK?.... thanks...

college and then apply for a grant or do I apply for a grant to see if I'm getting it and then decide on wether or not I should join. I don't think I'll join this college if I don't get a grant. Any good organizations I could get grants from?

Excuse my ignorance but I really have no clue as to which I should do first.

Thanks!

yeah, not trying to bad mouth him or anything...he does what he has to do for our fam, but he owes like $50,000 in taxes. I'm a little lost when it comes to what kinds of taxes are what...I know that he pays taxes out of his check each week...I think the ones that hes not paying are the ones you file in april.

I guess they said that he owedtaxes on the $200,000 he grossed that year, not the $40,000 that he took home, which came to $50,000 (somehow)

so, my point: can I even file the fafsa knowing that? Where I will be going to college is 20 mins away from my father...and I'm about 1500 miles away from him right now in hs.

he files each year...can I use him on the fafsa and not my stepdad, even though he only pays about 15% of what my expenses are as a dependant each month? Realistically, I figure that would get me more aid (he makes like $12,000/yr), however, are the "fafsa people" niiave enough to belive that my father who lives on the ohter side of the country is (continued)

I am going to write a essay for a scholarship program. It's called the Newsweek "My turn" scholarship. You write an essay like the "my turn" article featured in the magazine. I need a subject.

No insults. NO point stealers.

Well, I am already 29 years old and i have been going to school for a long time now. I take 6 units every semester and would take more but my job is very demanding and have to say it pays pretty good. I am not married and have 0 kids. I have about 70 units towards my major and need 120 to complete. I have no financial backing and the area i live in is pretty expensive and have credit card debt, car payment, rent etc. What would you do in my situation? Thanks.

I want to go back to school this fall. I filled out the FAFSA a couple of days ago. I know that I have missed the priority application deadline, but is there any chance that I will still be able to get some sort of help?

My wife has decided to go back to school after having our first child a little over a year ago. She is a hispanic woman who is going to become a Medical Lab Technician. She has already been accepted into the program, but we are trying to find all the funding we can. We have already applied for Pell Grant and Subsidized Student loans, but the Pell Grant only covered 3 of the 4 classes?!?!?! We can use the student loan to pay the other class and books, but we still have the travel expenses to pick up. So I am looking into grants for her to go to school. We live in a small town in Texas and our options seem to be limited. Any advice will help. Thanks!
