I already have a Pell Grant, Unsubsidized loan, and subsidized loan. I can only take up to the Cost of Attendance (COA), but what they say it costs (besides tuition, books) they include living expenses (housing, transportation, meals, personal, etc...) it's less than $1000 a month!!! I have 3 kids! That's not enough!!!

that isn't correct, you've been given the wrong information. Go verifiy your situation with the director of financial aid at your school because somewhere a wire got crossed and there is a misunderstanding. But....

Stay away from loans as much as you can. You have no idea how burdensome it is to pay them back once you leave school.

There are tons of scholarships that go unclaimed each year. Many $400, $500 or $1000 scholarships never even get applied for because people think it's chump change and not worth applying for. Well, get a few of those $500 scholarships and it'll really make a dent in your tuition bill.

People make the mistake of looking for one big scholarship to pay for everything when they should be targeting smaller scholarships that are more regionalized or specialized to their intended field or reflect something unique about them (son of Italian policeman, daughter of registered nurse, etc). Everybody goes for the big scholarships, the competition for those is much higher and your chances are smaller of getting it. Research and apply for anything and everything you are close to being eligible for no matter how small the scholarship.

Do a search on scholarships, search your major, your ethnic heritage, your town, your parents employers, your employer, hobbies, high school, local Chamber of Commerce/Rotary/ Lion's Club etc. Left-handed? There is a scholarship out there for you! Older woman returning to school? There are scholarships out there for you. Do combined searches on more than one criteria "hispanic women aviation scholarships" etc.

Go to the library and ask the reference librarian for a reference book on scholarships. They usually have more than one. There are all kinds of scholarships out there, you just have to start applying yourself and make it your summer career to send out letters everyday for scholarships. Good luck!

Well at the FAFSA variety they ask should you or your mom and dad are in default of a scholar mortgage. So in case your below 24 your no longer married and you haven't any kids, they'll want your mom and dad information, and can recognise that they're in default. I dont suppose that you'll be able to get Grants if they're. Your exceptional guess is to name the Financial Aid division and speak to them. And sure they may be able to take the cash that your mom and dad owe out in their wages, their tax returns and their banking account.

Well your college sucks! I have been taking classes for a few years now and the way I understood it was they take your need and expected family contribution and they get a number. You can't go over that number, your EFC. My annual income for a family of four was $52,000 and I was able to get around $2,000 from a MAP grant and $700 from PELL. And I was eligable for a student loan. You totally should be able to get a student loan. Your PELL pays before a student loan would. If you have defaulted a loan before that would prevent you from getting one. Otherwise with your income you should be able to get one. I would contact FASFA ON THE WEB. bEST OF LUCK TO YA!

I suggest u not get loans, those you have to pay back, Pell grant for a community is possibly 4050 total ( split 2025) per semester... try to get your state instructional grant, they give you about um 1,000... i'm left with about 1,000 to myself but i am not sure what the heck ur school is talking about.. i suggest u go directly to a financial advisor.. not those finanical aid office people, they do not know what they are talking about...or go to a financial aid accountant clerk, they are more specific of meeting your needs and what you can do.

There are several scholarships out there for single parents. Search fastweb, or your state funding center, or just google: "single parent scholarship" and see what happens. People love to give money to families. It'll take time and probably a few essays, but if you're going to school full-time AND raising three kids, you're already an all-star.
