An 8th grader on an IEP has been failing all year- not because accomodations or modifications haven't been done; they have. The kid just won't work even if I an sitting in front of him. His mother went to the H.S where she used to work and talked to the resource teachert there and that resource teacher has a meeting planned to promote him to HS based on his age, he is 15 and was held back in first grade. All of the current 8th grade teachers are against moving him up because it isn't fair to the kids who do work to skip into HS after Christmas.
The district policy says the parent needs to provide documentation if they disagree with the Jr. H.S decision but no one from the district is invited to the meeting. I am the kid's resource teacher and I am worried what future implications could occur if this does push through, as it looks like it will. If the kid does start working in HS- great! but if not can they come back on me that somehow I was responsible .. advice?

I have my BA in sped. I'm not sure if this is something that I want to do for the next 30 years (the actual teaching part) I enjoy learning about new theories and breakthroughs in special education. I am also not sure if I want to continue to be in a public school system. I need to get my Master's soon, but am unsure of what to get it in. Curriculum and Instruction just sounds so boring...any ideas or suggestions of something somewhat related, or something that I could use my knowledge of special ed. to help me? Sorry it's kind of a vague question, I'm just looking for ideas to explore...

Hey everyone! Okay so I was wanting to go to college so I could be a heart doctor/surgeon. First of all, does that profession make alot of money? Second of all, does it make enough money so I could buy alot of stuff from places like Gucci, Prada, Dolci and Gabbana? Thank you and all answers are greatly appreciated.

I don't think that they can be prevented as school shooters randomly do it. There are NO signs at all in most cases. I think tightening the security in school is ridiculous as most school shooters do it at random which serves no point. All it is doing is making the students act worried even more. They are normal people that just randomly do a school shooting.

Here's my source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shooting#.22Profiling.22_school_shooters

I have been watching a lot of U.S. TV lately, and it seems to me that many young people use "Correct" as their response to questions rather than what I was used to hearing, for example, "Yes", or "That's right", or even "That's true".

I love school, but the classes i'm in are depressing. I only have a least one friend in one of my classes, which I have more than one. I'm on crutches, because of my foot, and the teachers are boring. I know I shouldn't be complaining, because I want to get an English degree.

I have a friend who has a bachelors in business administration and a masters in healthcare administration. She's frustrated because she can't find any jobs except high-level clerical positions. She's also annoyed because all of her associates with only bachelors degrees are being offered management jobs, almost with no experience. Do you think she's being turned down so much because she's overqualified, not enough experience, or is her extra education seen as a kind of threat? Thanks for your insights.

Hi,
I'm a high school graduate and am planning to enroll in an AS degree in nursing. The main reason why I chose this course was to get a decent job to support myself and to help fund college. Think of nursing as a "phase" career in my life. My question is that after my AS degree, can I continue my bachelors in business administration? If yes, does it take longer time to complete the BS this way than it would if I did my AS in business administration?
