They specialize in getting you a degree!

All fun and games aside, SFSU, a state university does not have a graduate program in many things. When people say that colleges specialize in things, that tends to mean they have an excellent graduate program in that field.

They offer PhDs in the following
Doctor of Education (Joint Doctorate)
Doctor of Philosophy (Joint Doctorate)
Doctor of Physical Therapy (Joint Doctorate)
Doctor of Physical Therapy Science (Joint Doctorate)

So those things would be their specialties.

None of the CSU schools are particularly good or particularly selective. SFSU is one of the least selective of the lot. When you accept two thirds of the people who apply and your students have an average SAT score below 1000/1600 -- you don't develop a reputation for having any specialties that are notable. It is kind of like going to McDonald's and asking for their list of gourmet foods.

SFSU supposedly has a great Film department.
