Education & Reference - 20 October 2007

Why are there so many stupid people who assume so much about home schooling without any real knowledge of the subject? Why do people assume that it's only possible to develop social skills in a government funded institution where when, how, and with whom you socialize is decided for you? or that homeschoolers can't get accepted to universities, or that homeschoolers can't participate in sports, clubs, band, art, music, etc? Or that it's impossible for an ordinary person to follow a simple curriculum guide, or use the public library, or educational programs and websites or other sources int eh community to educate their children? It's ridiculous!

How can I cope with a perfectionist teacher? She nit picks everything all the way down to the ground on assignments. Nothing you do is right and the only way to get an A or A- is to have the perfect assignment. I'm not perfect and she's just so hard on me. It's pathetic.

Any suggestions?

I have a 3.5 GPA and take place in extracurriculars and am a sophmore in high school. One college I am looking at is Babson college in Mass. for Business. I am not sure what other colleges are good business schools. I know Wharton is good, but that is a very long shot with my GPA.

I was looking at Harvard, mainly because my grandfather attended business school at Harvard, and his brother attended medical achool. My grandfather has many Harvard friends still around and he has donated a large amount of money to Harvard under his name and continues to this day, and he even served on the Harvard admissions board. I am about to earn a 3.7 GPA and I am a sophmore in high school and I am involved in extracuriculars. But is a 3.7 GPA good enough for Harvard? They should teach students, how to survive in the real world, and the life lessons, instead of those stupid crap, that kids don't care about, who cares about what country was there in the 19th century, its over now, how to do the expression, (some stupid math problem) who f*ckin cares about that. I think the school should start teaching them that. How would they survive in the real world?

...even if they don't set up a payment plan on the defaulted loans? (The loans have been in default for a few years).

This person is a Texas resident, and lived in Texas when they got the loans.
