that is a GREAT GPA- but you need a GREAT SAT score- AND a great college apllication.
How colleges weight each component of your application
In high school, it seems like everyone has an opinion (and a bone to pick) about what it takes to get into a college. Poor test-takers think the SATs must be the most important thing. Those with lots of extracurricular activities fear that colleges will focus more on "numbers." Those who take difficult courses worry that colleges will only look at grades, and not how they were earned. And so forth.
In the end, the process of getting into college is usually quite fair. With a few minor exceptions, colleges are legitimately looking for the most qualified applicants they can find, and that means sifting through as much information as they have available.

RE:
With a 3.5 GPA, what kind of college can I go to?
I have a 3.5 GPA and take place in extracurriculars and am a sophmore in high school. One college I am looking at is Babson college in Mass. for Business. I am not sure what other colleges are good business schools. I know Wharton is good, but that is a very long shot with my GPA.

With your GPA, you have many choices available to you as long as you keep it that high. Your junior year is often the most important year, so remember that when you are registering for classes. Keep in mind that colleges like to see that your taking tough courses. I know that you are doing extracurriculars and I'm not sure what they are. You may want to get involved in an honors society, community service club, and something else that may spark your interest, like environmental science or computer science. If you are interested and have the time, I would suggest you get involved in a sport. It's a great way to get scholarships and make friends. You will also need to do well on the SAT. My goal was to get at least a 1300(on the old scale). I don't know of any colleges in Mass that are good for business, but if you can afford it, you may want to look into schools in other states. Many of the schools offer financial aid to help out students. I've heard that Brown University is amazing, so you may want to look into it.

Colleges don't pick their students based on their GPA alone. They choose their students based on many things:
1. GPA
2. Classes they took (whether or not you challenged yourself and went above and beyond the a-g requirements)
3. Extracurriculars
4. Community involvement
5. SAT scores
6. ACT (if you choose) scores
7. If your GPA stays relatively the same, that isn't going to be as effective on your college applications as someone who started high school with a lower GPA and as the years progressed, their GPA rose significantly
I know that a lot of people think that your GPA and SAT scores are the only thing that matters. But it isn't. There are many other factors. They want a well-rounded student, not just a student that spends every minute that they are awake studying. Colleges look for someone that is not only going to excel in their school, but apply themselves and get involved in their school.
I hope this helps you, and I commend you for thinking about college this early on in your high school career!!!

You shouldn't necessarily cut a school from your list because of your GPA, because your GPA is only a tiny piece of your application. Schools look at much more than just GPA or SAT scores.
Also, at least in my experience, as you progress through high school you have better opportunities to raise your GPA. Once your a junior and a senior you can take more AP classes, and classes outside of your basic school requirements.
You seem to be doing alright. Just keep your grades up and keep challenging yourself. And those extracurriculars are pretty important too.
Good luck! =D

with a 3.5 you shouldn't have any trouble getting in to most major state college. your SAT and ACT scores will play a big part in what school you go to and wheather or not you get a scholarship. if all else fails you can get your basics out of the way by going to a junior college for two years, then you will only have two years at the real deal college, which will save you and your parents loads of money!

What are your S.A.T.s? Babson is a great business school ... no problem. Can you afford it? That's the real question.
Dah, Warton is an MBA school ... U of Penn. Get your B.A. /B.S. first. As far as MBA programs go ... Warton is not considered the tops.
Babson is an excellent undergraduate business school ... lots of pretty girls, keg parties and near Boston. What more could an 18 year old man ask for?
Dumb as a box of rocks.
