In a hospital unit there are eight nurses and five physicians. Seven nurses and three physicians are females. If a person is selected at random, find the probability that the subject is a nurse or a male.
This is what I got so far, but I don't think it is right:
8/13+3/13-24/169
then get a common denominator and then solve from there??
Am I doing this right??
Thanks

This may seem like a simple question but I have always wondered why the lion is considered the king of the jungle. When in actuality you will not find a lion in the jungle.
Now I would like to believe it is due to the large mane the lion has. As well as the fact that lions appear to be a cultural icon.

Nevertheless I would like to know if someone can offer me an explanation.

Thank You all..... :^)

I'm doing extensive research on the Beinecke Library by SOM, at Yale University. I haven't been able to find a plan that identifies the zones and functions inside the library. If anybody can help me, perhaps a Yale student, I would really appreciate it!

I have no idea where I want to go. Here are my grades/other stuff needed for admision and then my guidelines for a school. I have a 3.93 GPA weighted (no idea what it is unweighted). I have taken 4 honors classes and will be taking 3 this year. I am a juninor. Have taken practice ACT and have usually gotten around a 31-33 on it. Top 8% in my public school class of 600. I am involved in Student Council (3 years and an officer), Yearbook ad staff, school televiison production team, tennis team (3 years so far and varsity player), link team, Model UN, Publicity manager for fall palys, build crew for fall palys, founder of a jewish club at my school, and I work every weekend as a cashier at a grocery store.
Guidelines for a universiy: money is no matter. Nowhere west of arizona, good buisness/public relations/history programs. Strong extracurriculars. Size around 5 to 15 thousand in undergrad (Though bigger is okay), not a Chrisitan School. A football team. No where in the state of Ohio.
