I'm a legal permanent resident of the US. I finished my High School graduation from Bangladesh where the degree is called "higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination". My transcript shows my name as "Fatimah Ahsan" but my name in the passport is Fatima Ahsan Ali. Also I spent two years in the University of Dhaka and its transcripts also represent the spelling Fatimah instead of Fatima. Recently I appeared for the SAT where my name was spelled in the passport's way - Fatima. If I apply for admission in an american university, will it be a problem that my high school transcript shows a different spelling of my name than my passport?

Hey,
English is not my first language. Arabic is. I am translating this paper from Arabic to English and it is mainly about higher education terms.
When someone is done preparing his thesis , he "defends" it. Right?
What do you call the professors who mmmm are in the process of mmm "listening" to the guy who is defending the thesis.
Is it called "counter defending" or something?

okay, im only a freshman but i plan to go to an art school in california(my mom doesnt know cause she would kill me(not really)). I am having problems planning money savings. I have a child that is blind and has c.p., The school district that we live in wouldn't put him in school because they didn't have the resources to teach him, so they tried to get him in the school for the visually impaired. They to turned my child down once they found out that he had hepititis c. I have contacted the Office of cival rights. They could not believe how big this case is. My child has been out of school for 5 months now and will be out all summer as well. My question is do I go public?

They're going to be helping and paying for maybe 8-10,000 a year, but I want to go to an expensive college and get a good education. I have good grades, I'm on a student exchange, I've been reasonably active in High School, though I don't stand out in any sports. My older sister can't get financial aid because my parents' income is too high, so there's no reason to suspect that when I go to college (september 2008) I'll get enough. Does anyone know what I can do or apply for as far as scholarships? There are always loans, but I'm more interested in not entering my life in debt.

i'm doing a research project on the solar system
for each planet i have to put everything about it including the explorations/missions to that planet
