Properly used, conjectures are spelled with apostrophes (couldn't, don't, etc.). With that, people talk in double conjecture terms, so why wouldn't it also be grammatically correct to use double conjecture punctuation (couldn't've - couldn't have - could not have, wouldn't've - wouldn't have - would not have, etc.)? I mean, it makes sense, right?

I know this sounds strange, but my mother was telling me about a woman she met when she went to JJC (a junior college). After making small talk on the first day the woman went on to tell my mom that she comes back every year and earns an associate degree. Although this seems odd, I admire her because she has a normal job and is married, but she comes back to educate herself in different job fields. Not only does that give her opportunities for the future, (if her job has to cut some people and can't find a similar job in her area open or she retires and comes back out of retirement and can't get her old job back) but she can help people with a problem that she learned how to fix in school. I admire this woman because it makes me want to further myself in education even when I have a professional job. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it can't hurt to learn something new while you're situated already situated. So, is there someone you admire without actually meeting them?

I just completed my Master's degree and it wasn't too difficult. I've been debating going for a doctorate eventually, but I don't want to start something that's too tough for me to finish. I'm pretty good at writing papers, but the idea of writing a 200 page book scares me. Do all doctoral programs involve writing a huge thesis? Also, I'm employeed full-time and I've got a baby at home, so I wouldn't be able to devote hours and hours to it every day. Is getting a doctorate a full-time job or is it similar to getting a master's degree? Also, this might be a stupid question, but what's the difference between a doctorate and a PHD?

ok. i have a 95% GPA in my 9th grade. then i was admitted to this new school, which is a very prestigious public high school and is much more competitive than my previous school. I had a 88% GPA in 10th grade. Now, i am a junior. I had a 84% GPA in the first semester. but I am expecting a 95%GPA in the second semester. Also, i signed up for many AP courses in my senior year. I have a 2100 on the SAT.
If you were a college admission officer, what do you think about my resume?
I transfered to this competitve school because i want to elevate myself and make myself better. I could have chose to stay in my old school and maintaina a perfect average but i felt it was a waste of time in there.

My husband just got accepted to an MFA program at Columbia. We are unfamiliar with New York, and the Columbia Area. We have a one-year-old son, and I will be working from home so we would like a "safe" area where he and I won't be scared all day long. The problem is we don't have a lot of money, and will barely be able to make rent.
