I teach high school p.e. in a suburban middle-class school district & the students do not seem to care about their grades as consequences (i.e. getting 1/2 credit for 1/2 effort). What are some other appropriate consequences to try to get the students to do what they should be doing. I have about 75% of my students giving 80%-100% effort, but the other 25% simply dont seem to care.

Hello. Please consider the folowing scenario:

Barry and Steve are good friends. Barry wants to buy a new computer, but he doesn't have the money for it right now. Barry says that he will pay Steve $2,000 in five years if Steve gives him $1,600 for the computer today.
Steve figures that there's an interest rate of 6% if he were to put the money in a bank instead of lending it to Barry.
Assuming that there is no risk of Barry not paying the $2,000 when he says he will, should Steve go through with the loan or should he put his money in the bank? Please explain your answer please, with examples.

The program is the Casa level (age 2.5 - 6). I need help on integrating the theme of "South America" into the Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Culture areas of my classroom. The culture and Language areas are fairly easy but I am having trouble with ideas for Practical Life and Sensorial. Can anyone offer any suggestions or a website which offers ideas for implementing themes into the Montessori classroom?

I went to college for a brief period, but didn't like the school and decided to change my major. I'm currently paying back the loan I accumilated while I was there. It's a government loan through Sallie Mae. I was just wondering if I went back to college, would I stop paying the loan while I was in school, and just pay it after I graduate? I couldn't afford to go back right now if I had to continue paying the loan while I went to school, so I need to know. Thanks! :)

thought there are torturers in the world
there are also musicians

though at this moment, men
are screaming in prisons
there are jazz men raising storms
of sensuous celebration
and orchestras releasing
glories of the spirit

though an image of god
is everywhere defiled
a man in west clare
is playing the concertina
the sistine choir is levitating
under the dome of saint peters
and a drunk man on the road
is singing for no reason

I am starting college in a medium sized town where i will graduate in May and I will be transfering to a large school in 1-2 years (depends on my GPA) . My major is accounting. After I have worked around a year I plan on going back to school and take night classes to get my CPA. However I want to start this summer and I am totally blind sided to which classes I should start with. I dont know if i should do one session or two sessions and i don't know if i should take core classes or some blow off classes to get the feel. I catch on fast though and I am a quick learner so I don't think that college will be overwhelming to me, until now...help what should i do with my life??

My friend has aphasia resulting from a brain injury. He knows what he wants to say, but the words do not come out. He seems to be able to learn to say words/names when he sees them written down, like if somebody gives him their name and phone number. And sometimes he copies words from ads on TV and then can say them. I'd like to try to find something, some kind of tests or "homework" for him to do with common words, maybe with pictures and words and then he could copy them down and say them out loud. Any suggestions?

I have a store near me where they sell school supplies, like little kids learning books and crafts, but don't know if he would do anything with these if they're too "babyish".

I just transfered to a new college this year ansd ended up missing way to many classes while visiting my mother who is sick with cancer. I do not like the school that much and thought about transferring somewhere else. If I did that, would I be able to send my transcript from my first school and just neglect the transcript from this school? Would a school frown upon that if they found it, or is it ok to do?
