Well I have taken many MANY standardize tests. When I do the most successful is when I prepare three to four months in advance. Then a month of whatever. Then two weeks of occasional studying.
It always works for me.

Take a prep course such as Kaplan or Princeton Review. I entered law school 3 years ago and it was imperative that I got in and got a scholarship. The scholarship was based on my LSAT score...I took a $3000 prep course and brought my score up enough to get a FULL scholarship, which is worth $80K for my entire law school education.
Good luck with your studies, and the money for the prep course was an AMAZING INVESTMENT in my case.
