Education & Reference - 23 February 2007

I have a "devolopmental" algebra class coming up as a pre-req for basic physics and math for emementary education. I am slightly nervous about it because I didn't do well at algebra in HS. The memory of my high school experience is a little vague, but I am pretty sure it was more laziness on my part than lack of ability to learn. (I was 'diagnosed' as a "gifted" child at the age of 8- once I hit middle school I started rebelling against the teachers and relatives who had high expectations of me by being an underacheiver.) Fast forward to age 27, (last year) and I finally decided I wanted to go to college. (The decision is MINE now- Let's just say I was a willful child and teen. Whatever was expected of me I usually made it a point to do the exact opposite. Luckily I grew up and started respecting authority!) Anyhow, have those of you with even a remotely similar situation found that as an adult the desire to learn caused you to easily tackle subjects that you couldn't in HS?

I need some good quotes that I can include in an essay about Thucydides' The History of The Peloponnesian War. Any quotes that are about the dangers of alliances and the destructiveness of greed especially. Please include where you got it from in the book or else it's useless for me... i really need help. I have to to read chapters 18, 19, 20, 21 by monday.can anyone please give me in dept details on those chapters. DOn't tell me to go to sparknotes or a site like it because they do tell you enough about the chapters. i left my book in my locker at school and that is why i'm asking for help. my teacher gives a quizzes over the chapters, and don't think i just don't want to read the chapters, because i have read everything up to this point. thanx!!

I am just curious of what peoples favorite quotes are. Nobody has never heard of this before because it has been said on a vacation with all girls at a grubby hotel. So there was these kids and they were looking for a ball that we stole because they where throwing it at our heads. So one kid comes up to us and says,"You got are ball?" and a girl that was with us says,"ya i got 2 of them" thats my favorite quote. that has happened in the past month.
