I am a single black female, who is 36 years old, & at the present time working a commmon laborer occupation, (janitorial). This position seems to have me locked into it due to the medical benefits, & somewhat flimsly job security. I so desperately want to find a more suitable position, but cannot seem to settle on a choice. I am leaning toward an occupation that is clerical, but I want it to be challenging & rewarding.
I am somewhat of a late bloomer in life regarding a solid career, but i would really like some input from those who are knowledgeable in this said matter. I just recently finised my GED & have taken advantage of the many programs, (computers), Word, (certificate#1). In the process of completing, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc... Although I work nights, 6 days a week, I do whatever I can in my sparetime to futher my education. If anyone also knows of any weekend courses, I would much appreciate the information, also regarding info on school supplies.

Ok. Im 19 years old. Will be 20 in May.
I graduated Highschool in 2005. But didnt go to college right after.
Missed 1 semester, because I was going to go to a trade school, but then decided it wasent what I wanted, then I dropped it, and was too late to sign up for classes at my community college.
I enrolled that following term, and completed 16 credits (acutally 19, but only 16 transfer to the univeristy I want to go to) (this was winter semester 2006) (did not attend fall semester 2005)
Then I was in school for Fall 2006 semester, earned 15 credits, and right now I am enrolled in the 2007 in 14 credits, but might have to drop a class because I am having a hard time in it.

so my transcript looks like this.
Fall 05-0credits
Winter 06-16credits

Fall 06-15credits
Winter 07-10credits (probaly because I will drop a class worth 4 credits)

So thats a total of 41 credits at the end of the 2007 semester, when the rest of my HS class would have about 60. Am I a loser?

my 1/2 baked idea.

I would love to separate children who have already mastered basic skills for their grade so they could do special studies. These studies would help educate future innovators, inventors, engineers, journalist, etc. This approach could teach them to more fully use their minds by doing research projects and design challenges on subjects both assigned and of their choice.

We will build a better future if we educate our children to find the questions and answers. We stifle the potential of many students with much rote memorization, repetition, and far too simple question and answer papers.

Several grades could be combined for this approach if the student base is too small to permit a special studies class at each level.

The devil is in the details. Perhaps the students take a pre-test of the end of year in the core subjects. Or perhaps they weekly take the tests, but get to skip daily homework & spend time in the special studies in mastered subjects
