I am looking for other parents that homeschool special education children. My son is physically disabled, but his intelligence is normal....just gets easily distracted. Anyway.....he is in 9th grade and reading at a 2nd grade level because the school neglects to do anything but put in a room with other children that are wonderful, but clearly not as mainstream as he could be. They have made promises, neglected IEP request and never return phone calls. I am just tired and figure I could do a better job myself. He comes home every either angry or sad because he is not getting what he needs. Anyway......point is....I need some advice on homeschooling.....any suggestions? Material advice? Lesson Plans? ect....thanks in advance

There requirements are killing me. Ok, well, I had a 26 ACT score. Now, I need to be ranked so much in my school. Well, in my school a 4.0 makes you ranked like 10. I had a 3.0 pretty much through the whole thing. A lot of kids had higher than a 4.0 in my school, pretty much everyone had honors. I got jacked going to the school i did. But the question is, will colleges look at how good my high school was and have sympathy lol. I should have tried in school I screwed myself too. One more thing, I did gymnastics for 4 years but it wasn't with the school. Can i still say I did 4 years gymnastics? Also, I do a lot of my own hobbies do those count or do they have to be organized?

I'm looking to become a RN of some level. I'm almost done with my BA but it is not in a medical related field. I’d like to go into a career that doesn’t involve taking that MCAT to start with and then move into something more lucrative; becoming a cardiologist or a family doctor, or practioner etc. I’m looking to take baby steps into the medical arena but I don’t want to become a Doctor just yet because I’m not sure what kind of doctor I’d like to be. I’ve heard that there other good things to get into that don’t require MCAT stuff. I’ve got a semi low gpa in my current field of study (management) but its because I’d like to get a back up to earn money for what I truly want to do. ( I didn’t find out what I wanted to do until recently which is get into the medical field) What would be the best introduction to the medical field without the hard schooling and testing that might later help me move into the right direction as a future doctor?

Has anyone had a negative experience with unschooling? There are scores of positive testimonials that won't convince my parents to try it; perhaps an absence of horror stories may help. I don't mean you tried it for a month and you(r kid) just ate candy and watched TV all day; I mean did anyone NOT get over that stage and become less motivated, inspired or intelligent (or ultimately successful) afterwards?
