Even Spell Check has its limits. Some of these folks would probably make it explode.

I think some people miss it. It may be obvious to you, but not to everyone.
Also, when you're not feeling well, you don't really feel like looking for a spell check. Emotional questions (and answers) are more likely to leave the spell check out.
Third, it's an American spell check. For us in the UK, it's annoying to see our centre (correct in the UK) get corrected to an American center. There are hundreds of regional spelling differences, and most of them are commonly used words.
Perhaps there's also arrogance, laziness, a love of slang, and other reasons.
The spell check isn't that great anyway.
edit: Some people might not know what check spelling means.
The spell check isn't that informative. If you don't know the real spelling of a word, how do you know which one to pick?

Because they are lazy. They have Google and Yahoo answers just there too to find out most of the questions they ask. Come on folks. clean up your act and make this Yahoo Community something to be proud of. It looks ridiculous and so stupid to see folks talking about love life and living and they cant spell what they write.

Because they are lazy.
Because this site is all about instant gratification, and they want to see their mangled question on the list.
Because they have not been taught by their parents that good grammar, spelling and puctuation are mandatory to land a good job.
Pick one.
