Story about the Future for lit??

Question

I have to write a paper for lit class about the future. I'm having a little trouble getting started so does anybody have any ideas that could be made for a 3-5 page long story? thanx

You might try thinking about some current issues and how they will affect the future. For example, how will global warming affect the future, especially in coastal areas? Then there's technology - what will entertainment be like in the future? Will everything be downloaded and will people have tiny computers they can wear? What will law enforcement be like and what kind of crimes will there be in a future world of surveillance and computer chipping? Look at how the balance of power in the world is changing - what will the world be like when China and India are dominant? Think about current events and headlines and try to use that as a starting point.

In the future everyone will have to live on another planet because we will have totally destroyed the Earth. Maybe you could write about some wacko scientist who cloned the Earth but made it indestructible + everybody nice lives there but everyone else just has to float around in Space

yeah, i had to do that once. i decided to write about the near future (after i graduated and went to college) insted of the very distant future like most kids did. i found that it was a lot easier than trying to pretend like you know what the distant future is going to be like. so if your teacher didn't specify how far in the future it need to be, this might be your best bet

decide: is it funny or serious in tone. then, brainstorm about things you like, know about, etc. then, with free assotiation write it all out. talk about it with your friends.
