I need to know because I have a bit of a problem, I was very ill 9th grade and some of 10th so I did poorly those 2 years... I got all 90's junior year and probably this senior yeah but my GPA is still only a 76%... I think that if I write admission essays I definatly have a chance to explain my situation, and if they looked into it the medical records are all there to prove that I had a problem

Recently i have been working through courses that are supposed to train me how to speed read. One of the key principals of speed reading is that you dont subvocalize (pronouncing words in your head while reading) words when you read them. Supposedly the brain can process literally thousands of words per minute, but you have to be able to visually process these words without saying them to yourself in you head. A few tips i have already heard are to hole a toothpick in my mouth, or chew gum, but i can do these things and still subvocalize. Does anyone have tips on how to eliminate subvocalization?

I'm 20, and I'm away at college, so it's not like I can just walk over to their schools. When I come home on the weekends, I've discovered that my mother's being neglectful/abusive, and other people who know the situation have agreed with me and advised me about contacting their school's nurse/counselor. I didn't attend public school (I was homeschooled), so I don't know how to work the whole system and get in touch with someone. Can you help me and tell me how I could maybe e-mail someone?
