First let me say that I am sorry for what you and your family are dealing with. I would look into contacting the media and local churches because, they can probably point you in the right direction. I hope and pray that all turns out well for your son.

Ronald McDonald charities are nationwide and have a tremendous resource bank. (If a person you contact says they have no information for you...they aren't completely trained and have the knowledge they need to advise people.) They can advise you what sources are legit and which are ripoffs, helping to protect you and your hard earned money. They can also lend you support emotionally and put you in contact with others who are going through what you are right now. Their McDonald houses help cancer patients and families stay together during treatment. Ask about those. Also, the Shriners may be able to tell you of programs that could help you that not too many know about. Just be sure to be cautious when checking into sites touting extra money to be earned by fundraising, mailings, etc. Be wary of get rich quick schemes. Don't let some slick-talking scammer talk you into something that promises income but in reality just rips you off. (Always push for information as to any and all costs/fees on your part. If they ask for your bank account information, ask why and to send it to you in writing before you agree. An unethical business will balk at this and alert you to potential ripoff danger.) Check out any source with the Better Business Bureau, your local district attorney's office (they can say if a litigation has been taken against a company) and www.ripoffrelief.com (this is a type of financial/deft counseling site but they have some very good information on their forums, especially about nonethical job offers and such.) Get into a support group with your local American Cancer Association and find out how others have successfully handled bringing in extra income through a safe venue. Just be cautious and ask questions, questions, questions and receive solid answers that can be backed up. There are legitimate fundraising projects around and they won't hide information from you.

A friend whose son has a very very rare disease (only 4 confirmed cases in world) has had to deal with this also. She raised money through bake sales, rummage sales, car washes and such. She raised enough money to buy two special beds her son needs and a specially equipped van to transport him to his specialists. She is a wonderful woman who isn't afraid to work hard to help get the things her son needs. She is also very savvy and practical to fund raising. She would advise to just use your own good common sense.

Prayers of hope to you, your son, and your family. May his cancer go into remission and may you all enjoy a long life together filled with happiness and love. Good luck in your fundraising efforts.

Go to the media make it appealing to them.Remember people generally dont care what they do care about is the illusion of compassion. What im saying is people need something to feel good about and if they know they will recieve acclaim for helping you they are more likely to help you

hello,

You can go to your local Costco or BJ's buy bulk candy. Buy one large pack of Mason jars, but some nice cloth and ribbons. put candy into those jars put a peice of cloth around the top where the cap screws on, tie ribbons around it too.

wrap it similar to this, http://www.flickeringwicks.com/images/2crates.gif

print out small tags from your printer maybye saying "help my son fight cancer" "every sale helps my son survive cancer" somethinf like that. and attach it to the ribbon tied on the jar.

Figure out a price for good profit.
Good luck with your son, i really hope this helps.
