You can chose actors, singers, sports figures, scientists whatever, just not like your parents. Thank you, I was just wondering what the more common response is, and why people admire someone.

I am posing the problem as a puzzle below, but the actual problem's wording is "Sort 5 numbers in 7 comparisons":

There are five balls of equal sizes, but different weights and different colours. You can identify each ball uniquely based on their colours, but not by their weights. You can assume that no two balls have the same weight.

You have a weighing scale ("pan-balance") that lets you put one ball on each side and lets you determine which is heavier and which is lighter.

Using the weighing scale at most SEVEN times (i.e., you compare any 7 pairs for their relative weights), arrange the five balls in increasing order of their weights.

As an example, you can sort 3 numbers in at most 3 comparisons, i.e., you need no more than 3 comparisons, but it could be done in 2 (only if you are lucky).

Should college football coaches be paid the same as college volleyball coaches? Should female basketball players in the Women's National Basketball Association be paid the same as their male counterparts in the National Basketball Association? Should men and women be paid the same salaries in every job, or just some? That is, are their jobs of comparable worth? What role should market forces and government in the United States play in determining wages?

I am interested in teaching Goal-setting to high school kids, following the outline of:
1) Write down your top 100 goals
2) Pick the ten most important ones and re-write them daily
3) Break each of those goals down into tasks with deadlines
4) Track your progress and take a step towards each goal every day

What do you all think? I believe if we could get kids to do this before they complete high school, we could see some amazing results.
They have done studies with college kids, and discovered that of 17% who had goals, only 3% had them written down. Of the 17%, the ones who had not written them down earned 3 times what everyone else did, and the ones who had written them down earned 10 times the average.

What are your thoughts on this?

I have attended my college for about a year and a half. And, I noticed that the college has a regulation that they put on the syllabus regarding using cell phones at class. Almost every syllabus says turn it off or put it on vibrate. However, whenever, I'm in class, I usually hear a cell phone go off. And, it is rarely on vibrate. The professors at my college rarely says anything about it.
Also, I have been noticing in one of my classes this semester, some students are playing with their cell phones or using text messaging during class. I always turn mine off during class because I feel it is proper etiquite to do so. I feel it is totally unacceptable to use your cell phone during class or even have it on unless it is an emergency. I was wondering if any colleges or Universities have stricter regulations on the useage of cell phones during classes?

My son who just turned 3 yrs. in Aug, could put together sounds at 2 1/2. So far I haven't really had to sit down with him to teach him much. He's learned it by watching and listening. He just started preschool on his 3rd birthday. I practice reading with him regularly; what else should I do to facilitate him?
