You might want to check out some charter schools in Michigan. They are state wide and your parents might not have to pay for anything since its funded by the state. Its considered public education so you would get a public school diploma and even if you have an IEP they still pay for any and all testing. You can usually do it online and if so they pay for your computer, internet, gym classes (karate, dance..whatever classes you choose to take), all and any school books and even distance learning schools. You even have a teacher to grade all your work or help you if you have a problem. If you want to homeschool and your parents are against it you can let them know that kids that go to charter schools or homeschooled children have higher test scores than public schooled children.

The more informed you are about homeschooling the better your parents are informed. Here are a few web site that might help you.

Sorry, that kinda defeats the whole purpose of homeschooling, ie, having somebody OUTSIDE the home teach you.. that's why there are schools, whether public, or private.
You might check on the web and see what MI's laws are concerning homeschooling before you ask your parents to do something as difficult and time-consuming as homeschooling can be.

Yes, Grace Llewelyn's "The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Real Life and Education". Awesome book and it also has advice on how to get reluctant parents to see your side. Not only that but it is filled with references for self-directed learning.

Best of Luck to you and please, do not listen to the ignorant masses about socializing. Also, it is fine to find 'teacher's' to help with your home schooling experience IF you feel they are needed.

There are correspondence schools and other homeschool programs like Hewitt which could work. Good luck!

Contact your local homeschooling support group and see if you can find someone there. Also consider online programs.

I never understand why anyone would choose to homeschool their kids....VERY few people are qualified to teach what is needed! Also, school is as much about gaining socialization skills as it is about gaining intellectual knowledge. You'll miss all of that. Why do you hate school? Life is not easy. Most people don't like going to work, paying bills, cleaning the house, etc. That's life. Part of being an adult (I don't know your age, but you're getting close) is about taking responsibility for yourself and doing the things that need to be done, even though they aren't enjoyable.
