This math homework assignment is so confusing. NO one gets it. i asked everyone i know that has this assignment and they dont get it either.
Heres the problem

The Crayon Problem

Hannah loves to color. She is also very skilled and can color with both hands at the same time. When she uses one of her big fat crayons, it wears down to nothing after 15 hours. Her skinny crayon wears down after coloring for 6 hours. Hannah enters a coloring marathon. SHe was given two crayons of the same height (one fat and one skinny). She began coloring with both crayons, one in each hand, at 10:30 AM. At what time will the skinny crayon be half the height of the fat crayon?

I am not looking for an answer. I just do not understand how to do the problem. If it helps i am in Algebra 1 and our unit is Linear Functions.

Thank you so much!!!

"The procedure is actually quite simple. First you arrange things into different groups depending on their makeup. Of course, one pile may be suffiecient, depending on how much there is to do. If you have to go somewhere else due to lack of facilities, that is the next step; otherwise you are pretty well set. It is important not to everdo any particular endeavor. That is, it is better to do too few things at once than too many.In the short run this may not seem important, but complications from doing too many can easily arise. A mistake can be expensive as well. The manipulationof the appropriate mechanisms should be self explanatory, and we need not dwell on it here.

What exactly is a GED, I mean I know that's it's like a high school dipoma but what do I have to do to get it? Is it like a single test or is it a class or course that I have to take?

Also how much time and preperation does it take? I work full time during the day and my evenings are spent taking care of my daughter so I don't have alot of spare time for classes or studying.

So is there anyone here who's gone through the process and can give me some info I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks :)

Before you all tell me to do my homework, I did thanks but i need at least 100 words. But it seems i need to add more to it. So Here is the question and my answer will follow:

Is it more common for people to make decisions regarding religion on the basis of reason or by faith? Explain your answer

My answer:
I believe people are going to make their decision on religion on the way they were brought up. I don’t believe they are going to change because of reason. They might 'claim' its faith but most of them, deep down, believe this or that because of parents or the fact that they've always gone there.

I see that a lot of kids post their homework questions on yahoo answers and people just give them the answers. Doesn't this bother anyone else? I mean, these kids don't have to study, think, or learn anything for themselves. All they are learning is that its easy to cheat and coast through life. The math and science sections are where I'm most disgusted by this. After all, these are the subjects where children are supposed to learn how to think critically and draw conclusions. Parents, any thoughts?
