My math professor asked me a question: what are the chances that two people in one room have the same birthday? Thou I knew that it depends on how many people there are in the room and that you can actually calculate the %...but I said 50/50. I could swear that I heard that on some science TV show...thou it does not make cense. Or does it?

My son is 4 years old and he's in Pre-K, and goes all day. He leaves the classroom and lunchroom, runs away from the teachers, hides under chairs and generally will not follow the rules or instructions. He's even run outside before they could catch him. He throws fits, screams and cries, and even throws himself on the floor in his "hissy fits" when he doesn't want to do something or doesn't get his way. They (the school ... teachers and principals) are already near their wits ends with him, and are suggesting that he has "problems" and are wanting him evaluated for special education programs. Is this standard? Or are they just not wanting to work with my child? Any ideas, suggestions or advice out there? I really do need it!

This is a most unusual paragraph. This writing may annoy you until you find out why it is so unusual, for you won't find a solution instantly. But don't go into a tailspin about it or go crazy, for it isn't that difficult. But you will admit that it is most unusual. This writing looks so ordinary that you might think that nothing is wrong with it. And, in fact, nothing is wrong with it. But it is unusual, and you must ask why. If you study and think about it, you may find out why, but you must do it without any coaching of any kind. No doubt if you work at it for long, it will dawn on you...who knows? So start to study it now, and try your skill at finding out what is so unusual about this writing. If you can do it in half an hour, you may claim an approach to wisdom, but if you can't do it in half an hour...

My son is GATE and the GATE teacher is not the GATE teacher, what is more important, being in a class with other GATE kids or being with a teacher that might better deal with his emotional issues. Not to say the GATE teacher is better, just better suited. I am at a loss. Every parent wants their child to have all that is available to him/her. Not sure if the choice to be with best friend in the GATE class is a better choice. Opinions welcome.
