Hi all. I am from Iran. When I was only six, I asked my mother who is God? And she told me you would understand when you grow up. The same night I asked God to reveal himself to me! And I saw a strange dream: I was walking towards an open window. Outside was a wonderful view. I saw a white bright light (much more brilliant than the sun) it was in the center and was shining. And it was surrounded by a beautiful red light (a beautiful color between red and pink) and small white lights (similar to clouds) were circling around the central white light. Suddenly I heard a soft male voice (a kind voice) that told me: I am God. All humans must obey me.
And I guess I woke up at once. I told my dream to my mother and she told me: see how kind is God? He made your wish because you are an innocent, pure child (all children are pure). Even prophets (no one in fact) could not dream of God. So it is very strange for me. But I have heard that once God took prophet Mohammad’s soul to the same place that I dreamed of. That is where we call “Arsh Ala” which is close in meaning to “supreme place”. I know that saying what God is like is a mortal sin but I only told you my dream. And I know that it is impossible to see God. What do you think? Do you think my dream was true? Regarding that as a six-year-old child I had no imaginations of God. I mean if it was not true then why did not I dream a human or something other than a wonderful view?

I have these kids that come to work for me at the club.
They have never washed a dish, don't know how to sweep the floor, can't microwave their own lunch...

How do these kids grow up?
How do their parents expect them to be able to function as adults?

I was taught that if a kid didn't know how to stich on a button and cook even the simplest of things (toast, scrambled egg...) then their parents didn't do their job. After all, these are basic survival skills that everyone has to do at least once in their lives no matter if they live in the woods or NYC!
[unless, of course, they have enough money to pay someone else to do it (and, even then, what about the maid's day off?)]

These used to be every day, basic survival skills a parent taught their kids. And, if not the parents, the school.

What happened to basic survival skills?
And how do we get them back?

i did an IQ test which i scored 130, so if im right, then surely that makes me of a reasonable level of intelligence? Well if that is true, then why am i so dumb? I forget everything, i am totally disorganised, and i reckon almost everyone i know is more intelligent than me. Are IQ tests just rubbish?
When i was at school i only got 4 GCSE grades above C, and i never did very well. Perhaps the IQ test felt sorry for me and gave me a few extra points(or alot).
Shall i start wearing my glasses and hanging out at the library, or shall i get a job at burger king?

Initially, I was quite confident that I will be able to do a doctoral work. However, I am dissatisfied with my own performance in the first year of my master study. I had a problem to keep my confidence on this matter. Any suggestion are most welcome. Thanks a lot.

He is sitting for Primary Sch Leaving Examination. He is not keen in studies & dreams to be a singer.I never give up on encouraging & motivating him even on very little achievement he got.He will listen on the moment I talk to him but tends to forget it soon. This has been going on very long-I have never give-up.My worry now is - what if he cannot make it to the secondary school and be in alignment with the normal school progress. He is the eldest of my 3 sons.I do not have very high expectation but at least he must be of good model to the younger siblings.I do not mind him wanting to be a singer if he has the gifting, but I also want him to be an 'educated-singer' as education is important. Please help me ease my mind. His exam is only 2 months from now. What dissapoints me is also the negative remarks I got from his school teacher.School teachers are not developing children but condemns them - only smart & hardworking children get place in teachers hearts. The weak ones feel like failures.

The kids who were breastfed until age 9 and have only ever read the Bible are screwed up, but they're screwed up because their parents are screwed up. If they were in school, they could get away with less, but a child is a product of their parents.

I know a few screw ups myself -really, really scary cases of messed up parenting- but I'm homeschooled, all my friends but one are homeschooled, and they're all well-adjusted.

We're a bit weird, my friends, but people are so BIASED. People think I'm really great, then they find out I'm homeschooled, and I'm sheltered? No, I'm not offered drugs. Why is that a bad thing?

Homeschoolers are generally less conscious of pop culture because the environment we're in (the name sucks, not the home environment) is one where we judge each other based on merit, not shoes. Why? Because we're given more respect at home so we treat each other with more respect.

Maybe the disasters stay because it's easier to remember the bad than the good?
