I have these kids that come to work for me at the club.
They have never washed a dish, don't know how to sweep the floor, can't microwave their own lunch...

How do these kids grow up?
How do their parents expect them to be able to function as adults?

I was taught that if a kid didn't know how to stich on a button and cook even the simplest of things (toast, scrambled egg...) then their parents didn't do their job. After all, these are basic survival skills that everyone has to do at least once in their lives no matter if they live in the woods or NYC!
[unless, of course, they have enough money to pay someone else to do it (and, even then, what about the maid's day off?)]

These used to be every day, basic survival skills a parent taught their kids. And, if not the parents, the school.

What happened to basic survival skills?
And how do we get them back?

I ran into the same issues when I was a manager. I can tell you that I am a mother of a seven year old that knows how to do all of the above mentioned things and more. Her five year old sister is learning them now as well. I agree with you that it falls back to the parents. I think it is a generation that grew up with middle class working moms and dads who didn't have the energy or the desire to go back and teach their kids once they finally got off of work.
Don't think that there is anything wrong with a Mom working because she has to or because she wants to but I have seen MANY moms and dads for that matter work and then use them working full time as an excuse to not be able to be parents to their kids. Folks chasing that American dream, a large house in the suburbs, two brand new cars and all the fixins to go along with it and the kids paid the price.
Much Peace

It wasn't till some months in the past, that I had even concept approximately "prepping,", once I met a clean co worker, who's an corporation believer. We communicate plenty at artwork, and he's opened my eyes to what's truly occurring with the government, and the international. i've got continuously had to initiate a prepare/prepping kit merely incase, yet our kin has on no account accomplished it. So now, i've got began a plan, yet now i want to pass added and study skills and take courses merely like Pennington. My mom thinks i'm paranoid, and/or brainwashed by this guy at artwork, yet ever because i've got began to coach, i've got had greater peace of ideas. Your question intrigued me through fact i'm drawn to how a lot of human beings think of this is Paranoid and how a lot of human beings think of this is clever. i think of this is greater advantageous risk-free than sorry, and that i've got some unfastened time to verify new skills in any case :)

you said it.. parents USED to teach thier kids this stuff, now we have just about anybody putting out babies left and right.. kids having kids, and such.. its hard to teach your children when you are a child yourself.
Parents work two jobs apiece to survive, or they are single parent homes and have to work constanly as well, nobody there to teach, and the country has let our school system go down the toilet. can't even get them to teach math anymore.
