i did an IQ test which i scored 130, so if im right, then surely that makes me of a reasonable level of intelligence? Well if that is true, then why am i so dumb? I forget everything, i am totally disorganised, and i reckon almost everyone i know is more intelligent than me. Are IQ tests just rubbish?
When i was at school i only got 4 GCSE grades above C, and i never did very well. Perhaps the IQ test felt sorry for me and gave me a few extra points(or alot).
Shall i start wearing my glasses and hanging out at the library, or shall i get a job at burger king?

You probably just need to find the right area to apply yourself to. You've heard of mad professors right? Well I bet they have high IQs.

Intelligence is different from commonsense, is different from experience, is different from focusing.

Don't know much about IQ, never really considered it a factor in normal society.
My Mom made me do the Reader's Digest Mensa IQ when I was about 10 (128).
It could help at school to determine whether someone is capable of understanding. Otherwise ignore it.
Most of the people in the Media or that I know personally who are in Mensa are thick as two short planks.
If you only got 4 GCSE's with an IQ of 130, I would start googling 'learning disorders'. Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism etc.
Of course you could also be lazy, or enjoy having a good time.
I would recommend neither the Library or Burger King.

Albert Einstein was an absolute genious but couldn't balance a checkbook. So don't feel bad.

I took an IQ test when I was in high school. It was determined that I was extremely intelligent. (I won't go into numbers...they're not important.) The funny thing was that I was one of those kids who did "just enough" to get by...I never fully applied myself or anything. I was a major frustration to teachers and every other adult around me. When word got out of the results at school, the general sentiment was "D***, if she's smart then I must be brilliant!"

My son (nearly nine) has also had an IQ test done. (According to the pediatrician and psychologist, he qualifies for membership in MENSA.) There are days, though, when he acts sooooooo the opposite.

So I don't put a lot of stock in an IQ test anymore. It's a little ironic taking a test that was written by human beings that supposedly determines how intelligent you are or aren't. It's just numbers...means nothing.

You are not dumb, you scored 130 and that is a good score. Being disorganised and forgetful are just traits and have nothing to do with intelligence. I did not do that well in GCSE's, I am disorganised and i would forget my head if it was not screwed on, but I am doing ok in uni. (so far!!). So get those glasses on. go down to the library and start swotting!!

You are not dumb, 130 is a good score. IQ tests only measure some levels of intelligence but are good indicators of over all intelligence. Being forgetful and disorganized is not correlated with levels of dumbness.

IQ tests only find out if you can answer those particular questions.
You#re obviously not dumb as you have 4 good GCSE results. Go to college and retake the others. The school environment is not always the best place to learn.

Only idiots think Iq scores don't count.

Nah not really, I got less GCSEs than you and I am a veritable genius.

Skill and ability are all closely tied into how we feel about ourselves and the given task.

I someone gave you a piece of cake and sat you ni a comfy chair and said, 'no rush, take your time, no pressure but it owuld be quite nice if you could add 12+25+2.8+63+26899+22.365/56.25, but don't worry howw long it takes"

Chances are you'd solve it quicker than if a man put a gun to your head ans dcream at you to do it.

Out emotional hypothalimus controls everything we do, luckily we exert some control over it, so you will be very sucessful at things you love

Some people are just a bit dizzy like that, i wouldn't sweat it, most jobs are about who, not what you know. You sound like you have your feet on the ground, and to identify your weaknesses like that just shows how aware you really are, the i.q. test is a little bonus it proves you can deduce problems, don't worry about it is the best advice i can give you seem pretty happy so you got a head start on most.

i am generally regarded as an intelligent person in my local community, been through uni to post graduate level and am now a teacher. However, i am prone to the most stupid questions and answers. My father best sums me up by saying, "She could tell you the square root of an egg, but she couldn't fry you one!"

Some people a book-wise and others are street-wise. being a street-wise is better. I think u are one.
for being disorganize, try at least once a week to fix your things and don't mess it up again so that it won't be hard for you to fix them.
for being forgetful, taking notes helps. at school, i have an organizer with me and i bring it anywhere in the school campus.
but don't leave it anywhere.
good luck! :)
