Software - October 2006

When I start the DVD, a diolog box apears that says, "Your computer cannot run this version of the Operating System." My computer well exceeds all the requirements. Its a CX200x. I downloaded the Vista image file, and burned the image to a DVD, but it just won't work.

Hi, I'm looking to make a printed diary using Microsoft Word in the style of a personal organiser/ Filofax.

The sort that have 7 days to two or four pages, so that entries can be written and filled in.

in windows you have a program go to
"Start"
"All programs"
then go to accesories youl find three at the top... accesiblities.....comunication...then entetainment...go to entertainment and there will be sound recorder
but i dont have it i have checked everywher on my computer does anyone know how i can download something for free or mabey download some drivers for it on the internet......... please answer

It takes several mins to boot up,and also several mins to connect to my 1 meg broadband.If it connects first or even third or fourth time.I get about 30 k/sec instead of 1meg/sec.
It is a pentium 3 with 13 gig c drive and I have just doubled the RAM to 262 meg,that cost £25.That seemed to help for about two weeks then it went even slower than it was before.
I regularly empty the temp internet files and the temp folder.There is about 2.5 gig of the c drive used. I even paid a company called registryfix to "fix" about 250 apparent problems on the computer,but still was extremely slow.Thier tech support was rubbish and I eventually got my £27 back.I have done scandisk and defragmentation several times...absolutely nothing works.So before I put a sledgehammer through this £700 worth of computer I thought I would see if anyone else might have any ideas.......HELP PLEASE !!!!

I work for a tenant screening company and I use a program called 4D not 4th dimension for graphic design, but a data management program, recently about 3 to 4 months ago I would transfer batches of files from our 4D program over to our RDM server which stores all of our Unlawful Detainer court files. But for some odd reason when we send the batch over to RDM it doesn't always update with the changes that I made in 4D it will only update a certain amount of records. So my main question is why is this happening? is it possible that the server is acting up? or am I missing a step, it would be much helpful if someone who has a decent amount of knowledge towards 4D data management.

I want to copy some of my DVD's, and want to use my Nero Burning software.. But now I have a new Imac.. I want to use Nero, but
I can't open it on my Imac..? Do I have to buy another kind of Nero for the Macintosh Imac Duo, or what shall I do...? Or is there a better program to copy my DVD's? I know it's illegal to copy DVD's so I'm asking a theoretical question here.. Is there An Imac Expert out there? I do not need to hear from Windows people, as you have no idea of what I'm talking about.. and if Woz happens to be on line, thanks for creating such a wonderful computer !

Ok let's say I put 0.45 in A1 and filled series down with adding 0.45 each time. I then put the cells to 0 decimal places. So the number has rounded up or down accordingly. In cell B1 I use the formula =SUM(A1:A200). It uses the 0.45, 0.9 etc... how can I get it to use the whole number instead?

The only thing i did was install handwriting recognition recently. The windows help does not help. Its like my mouse has gone crazy. every time i highlight something it opens it. I have it set to double click in the folder options. I even tried to restore my computer but my computer would not restore. I dont have a virus because i dont have internet i'm on my sister's computer. Thanks in advance this is very frustrating!

This isn't a windows question, but a general OS question. Is there some kind of memory management on behalf of the OS that keeps track of how much memory is left on the HD and dissallows the user from using up all HD resources? If so, what would it do? what is the protocol?
