Security - March 2007

I want to delete this application which causes my taskbar to have an additional application. I think it's an adware. It's pretty agressive. I tried to look at its source and find it. When I saw it, I tried to delete it, but it always fails. (The computer tells me that it cant delete the application because it was in use). I then opened the windows task manager and lokked for the application. I selected the application and clicked 'End Process' , but then, another application similar to it pops up. How am i gonna delete the application if it was ALWAYS in use?

I've already tried to scan my computer with an antivirus, but then, it senses no adware. But I really think the application IS an adware.

Please help.. I'm getting desperate.. Thanks in advance.. :)

is there anyway whereby i can have a password on my personal folder?? which is when some1 click this folder they will be prompt for password??

I was prompted to enter admin logon password which i did not assign any to my comp. so now i cant access my desktop on C drive....
next, i install a copy of same os ( winxp) to drive D and from the d drive, i drag my important files from C drive to D drive, thinking that i able to view them. But i encounter ACCESS DENIED and NO PREVIEW AVAILABLE to Jpegs file...
My question is ...
What should i do in order to open the files which is of sentimental values to me and
how am i to logon to C drive ???

destroy or damage mother boards so those things that attract dust are out of the question. someone suggested a hoover. that sounds even worse. any ideas.

When I start IE a second window rapidly pop-up and then disapears. It goes to www.freereel.com/in.php?id=323&sid=1&q=codecs. The arguments vary.Then, when I surf the internet sometimes a window pops up and I end up at different search engines. Can anybody help me get rid of it ?

i got the ca internet security suite 2007 for free (rebate) then i started installing it to my pc. problems started arising.. it told me to restart to complete the installation but i cant get it to start again because for the first time it started hanging then the windows installer box started popping up continously which is very annoying.. whats the problem? and how do i remove the ca inernet security suite.. would very much appreciate ur help

and another one (differnt) said 307
the name of it was UltimateDefender

I use my computer a lot for myspace and a few games and other stuff. But, I want to block a few of those websites when my little sister decides to use the computer.

Is there a program that I can download that will allow me to block off websites I choose by turning the program on or something?

Like if she decides to use the computer while I'm using it, I can activate the program and it'll begin to block the websites.

I have read that there are programs that would reteive other's email pasword, there are even hacker services who would do this for a fees? Is this really possible. Is this legal? If yes, this is scary, infringement on one's privacy. What is yahoo doing about this

Thanks to my new enemy, Vista, I really can not play any games now. This all started with Gametap, I signed up for an account so that I could play Myst online...come to find out Vista and my drivers SHOULD work with Gametap, but they don't. After a very sad experience there, I decide to come back to old Yahoo and play some games...and another rude awakening-Jave has been banished from the world of Microsoft thus completely diminishing any hopes I have of playing games online anytime soon.

I know I can download Java from somewhere else, but honestly Microsoft has pounded it into my head that Java is evil, so chalk it up to ignorance, but I am convinced something really bad will happen if I disobey. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft will lose this battle. How is it that Java will not become obsolete, and places like yahoo won't have to switch platforms for their games and other things? I know there are plenty of people like me out there w/ the same concerns. I need advice

I really don't want to have to reinstall the software again or "buy" a lost password cd rom. Is there an easier way? Her aunt didn't have the username and password because it belonged to her son whose in Iraq and he said he couldn't remember it coz it had been 4 years since he last used it.
I called Microsoft and they said they would not help out and I checked a lost password site.Will I just have to reformat? How would that be possible without the password?

My daughter is waiting impatiently to play her games, lol!
