Programming & Design - April 2007

I am completing my first web site using Dreamweaver 8, I am about to upload it to my host site but I discovered a problem.
I am using flash buttons for my main navigation bar, when I pre-view my site on my internet explorer at home it looks fine, also I checked it on a couple of friends home computers and again, it works the way I desire it to work....
I tried it on my pc at the job and when I try to preview my site from the jobs internet explorer I receive a warning
" internet explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer"
and my flash buttons don't show.
What can I do to fix this short of removing the flash button navigation, as I like the way it looks and my pages are build mostly from templates and removing the flash buttons will mean a lot of work to find a replacement button.
Could someone please advise.?
Secondly I see alot of sites with .gif navigation buttons how is best to make these, Photoshop or Fireworks

I'd like to design (or have designed by someone else) web based software where people could schedule appointments for a doctor's office--I would like to have it be in real time so my receptionist could see the appointments as they fill in. Also, I cannot have more than 1 patient fill a spot. I know software like this exists...but I'd like to create it myself. Do you know what platform I should use? How difficult would this project be?

So i've got two frames, Frame A and Frame B...

Frame A has an icon button and is hyperlinked to a page...

How do I type in it, so that when you hit the button for the hyperlink, it takes down by frames and goes to one full sized page?

As of right now, when I click the link, only frame A changes and frame B stays the same, I want both frame A and Frame B to go away and go to that page if this makes any sense?

I am trying to retrieve some data from a my host's database (using MySQL 4.0.24 and PHP 4.4.1), and so far I can already connect and insert data into it and pretty much do the basics, except i keep getting this error:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/www/xxxxxx.com/xxx.php on line 34

I already checked for spelling errors and syntax errors, but here is the clip of code anyway:

$xxx = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM forum");
$row = mysql_fetch_array($xxx);
while ($row) {..*code*...}

The database table is named correctly, and the data is in the database and everything. But for some reason I still get that "mysql_fetch_array()" error.

The code works when I use my own sql server and localhost, but I need it to work on my host's server, and I don't have access to the host server's settings. Again, I already can connect and do most of the stuff on the database; just can't get mysql_fetch_array to work. please help?

The instructions said:

I tried to insert these values by going into phpMyAdmin and typing a value for the username and password. It doesn't work when I try to log in. Is there something I am doing wrong?

I created a frameset in Dreamweaver MX 2004. I have 4 frames and they are all active and can be stretched and altered in size. As soon as I save the frameset and close Dreamweaver, it seems to be locked. When I open the frameset, the frame borders are not selectable anymore. If I open the code, I can change it that way, but this is tedious. I would rather have the ability to click on the broders with my mouse and drag it to alter the frame size.
