in college, i did cobol, c, c++, java. With regards to jobs now and in the future, which of those is best to pursue further?
My personal fave was c, but im guessing that doesnt have a good future.

we also covered jsp and asp.net (with vb.net) for creating websites, so not sure if thats a better direction to go in?

Ok, I need to write a batch file to rename all files in a folder.
Called: 1.jpg_s.jpg 2.jpg_s.jpg and so on...
I just want to rename these to: 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg... etc
possibly by using a 'for' loop becuase there is no way of telling the total files to rename.

I know how to write program to the side and down.. but can a single cell do a complex program somehow? I'm thinking excel isn't advanced enough to do this... but if it is I definitely don't know how and would appreciate some assistance in figuring out how to do this. To make this a little more understandable let me give you and example.. It may take more than the characters I have left so look for additional details if you open this question soon.

This is what the program I was originally asked to write looks like basically.

Code # Units total: Units used: Units remaining: Money Remaining:


There are about 20 different codes.. and they decided they, instead of having a sheet per child, would like all the names on the verticle axis and keep all this info and list it per child... now to do that on the horizontal axis with so many codes, and so much information about Each Code # would make the sheet about 100 cells long on the horizontal axis.

I am making a address book in Java. I take the user input and store it into an object called entry. I then take the object and add it to an arraylist called entry_list. Each object has a method called getLName() that recalls the last name of the entry object. How would I sort the arraylist by last name?

I'm trying to write a program to generate random number, within a range of predetermined numbers, while not having any duplicate numbers.
for instance:
I need 5 (non duplicate) numbers, between 1 and 10.

I tried using Rand, and then looping to regenerate number that were duplicated. But, that sat there running for about an hour, and never got all the numbers to be unique.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
