What happens when people aren't happy with your work? Do you bill by the hour?

That's a tricky question. You should ask customer payment break down,

E.G. 20 % advance
30 % on delivery
10 % on each change
rest on completion.

You can always include a clause you will reserve right to add additional hours depending on extra time you put.

That way even if you don't satisfy client you already have 50% of money. If you know the client is going to create problems double the cost so you get paid when you submit the work and everything else is bonus and you can walk out if you feel.

One more thing "The customer is always right" that's not just a marketing pitch you can't fight with your customer without loosing the customer.

Usually, I bill by the finished product. The object is to give the client a product to purchase. This is for logos or Graphic design of a single item. For WEb Design or long running projects, it's best to either quote a single bid on the entire project or to agree to an hourly fee for the service.

We charged $40 an hour and sometimes less depending on what needs to be done. We do several different examples and proofs.
