i have some files that i seem unble to play called mkv, is there any way i can play these?

Help! I have been getting this message more and more often. Sometimes when I am playing a game, such as "Jardinains" or the "Beach Head 2", the game terminates itself in the middle of the game without any warnings at all? I am using a Toshiba Tecra A2 laptop, running on Window XP pro., 1.4 gHz, with about 3/4 gig of RAM. What seems to be the problem? Should I add more RAM?

why do I have 10 svchost.exe processes when I look under the window task manager? Is it a virus? They all have a different memory usage.

When I try to type Greek letters into my answers, I go to the character map, select the symbol font, select the character(s), select copy and try to paste it into my answer here. All I get is the Roman equivalent of my Greek letter. I know this can be done, because I see others doing it all the time............... ????
Ex: Here is my try to type a capital theta-- Q --

Not so easy> When I log into my work email from home a pop up window shows up. In the box it ask for Username and password. For some reason There is a msn email account that shows up as a selection as well as my Pop3 email account which is the one I use. I can I get rid of the MSN email option on that pop-up window. I"ll give 10 pts if your solution works

Not one that would still be $700+++, but one that people aren't crazy about 'cause it wasn't a "big" thing at the time and now it's "old", so people are often putting it up on like Amazon/ebay/etc for like $200-$400...I'm not wishing to do a whole lot on a compy. I just wanna type, and watch movies. I also HATE games of any kind, just in case that helps anyone in directing me to a computer that wouldn't cost a lot...I looked through 5+ pages on Amazon.com sorted by avg cust review and found little to nothing...and I tried goggling "2003 computer Amazon" and mostly found a bunch of opinionated articles and bloated stuff like that...can someone help me?

Can any one tell me what to buy to help my computer run alot faster with about 200$? I have a slow compaq computer with Windows xp professional 2002. im not computer smart but heres some stuff that mite help you know what is in it Intel(R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 1500MHz 1.50 GHz, 256 MB of RAM. when you run a error check from local disk properties,where can you find a report of the check
this is because when you do a system error check in ntfs(or fat32) once the check has finished,you get about 2 seconds to read the report........
any ideas?

I would really like to be able to see if my laptop (and pc for that matter) are being used when I am out all day? I have not got a clue whether or not I can do this and would appreciate a little help please.

I have just seperated with my hubby, due to him being naughty, and I have a sneaky suspicion he is coming into the house whilst I am out and using the laptop and pc to see where things are at with my solicitor etc. I just want to be able to know one way or another if this is the case.

Recently, one of my computers running Windows XP Home froze and had to be restarted. However, when it finished displaying the Windows XP boot up screen (with the Windows XP logo in the center and animated blue bar near the bottom of the screen), it only proceeds to show me a black screen with a constantly blinking horizontal cursor in the upper left-hand corner. Normally at this time it would proceed to the user login screen with the logo on the left-hand side and the list of users registered on the computer on the right-hand side, but it isn’t doing that anymore. I tried to shut down/restart the computer again but the same process keeps happening and has rendered the computer unusable. I have literally left the computer on for hours, but all it does it sit at the black screen with the blinking cursor. I have checked the case of the computer and it is relatively clean of dust and dirt, and the fan appears to be operating fine.

Is there any reason why this is happening?

I downloaded what I thought was an MPG file. When I went to play it nothing happened. I've tried deleting it several times- nothing happens. I can't move the file or rename it. In short I can't do anything with it. How can I get this file off my computer?
