Try starting your computer in safe mode. If this works then you almost certainly have a virus. The best programs I have found for removing this type of virus is 'CWshredder', and 'Hijack this'
If you need any more advice on these you can email me.

Not sure where you are but there is software available now with anti-crash elements. You can find these in a lot of computer magazines. Don't ask me which, you can usually see plenty of them. If you have a boot up (restart disc) it can sort out a lot of problems. You could do a bit of reading(same) or go for the disc option. I think one of the main reasons for SHUT DOWN is conflicting programmes.
Also I have found that Norton Premier is really good. It could be a number of reasons including missing shortcuts. The Norton disc allows you to sort out a LOT of problems using its utilities part.
In any case, good luck!! Don't forget, you could try doing a system restore to a point when your computer was working effectively.

If you get chance right click my computer go to properties then advanced tab-click settings in startup and recovery window and untick the automatically restart box......this does not fix your problem but should stop it shutting down...check what software you have recently installed and anything you have plugged in to USB

As well as checking for viruses, trojans, malware, etc. I'd advise that you check to see if your fans are working, and that they're free of dust/grime. It may well be an overheating problem.
