Internet - December 2006

I'm running Windows 98 on my desktop and have more memory but every once in awhile I'll try to open IE only to get a message that it can't be found. Sometimes I'll get nothing but a blank page; it just won't load!!!

When playing a game on the internet the outside perimeter of the page is nt big enough to allow me to see all thats on that page...how can I format that page to see all of the type on that page?

My dad accidentally tried to download Google Earth onto his very old PC - and he doesn't have broadband, only a dial up connection. Subsequently the PC is working very slowly, and giving error messages saying the hard drive is full. There is a huge file in the hard drive called "index.dat" but I have been unable to delete this. When I try it says the file is in use (even though it isn't open). Any suggestions?

When I double click on internet explorer, I get a message before my internet explorer page opens. The message says: Cannot find 'file:///c:/secure32.html'. make sure the path or Internet address is correct. Thats the message I am getting all the time when I click on internet explorer, the internet works well I can go any websites but I am not sure why I am getting this message. Can anyone help me please? and how I can be sure my Internet address is correct! thank you

Hi,

Is it possible for someone with a satellite modem to get free internet access from just about any location on this planet? I mean, even if that is not the case, would it not be easy to control who uses the satellites, like GPS?

Are the any free satellites to connect to? I personally do not have a sat modem, but I do not want to invest in one to find out.

What if you needed to have internet access from a remote location in an emergency? Do you have to make any prior arrangements with a provider?

During the Asian tsunami two years ago, rescue teams had set up satellite modems in Indonesia could get internet access. Did they have to pay for internet?

I can't seem to open any PDF documents with IE 7. When I click on a PDF, it says that it cannot display this page.
I install FireFox and the links work properly.
Is there a known issue with IE 7 and Acrobat Reader?
