i Hvae lenevo lpatop , 256 Mb RAM and T1350 intel core solo processor ? 256 would match with 1 GB or not . if not should i replaced it by 1GB or 2x512 which one would be better for better performance ?

Hello all!
So I recently upgraded my operating system from Windows XP Media Center, to Windows Vista Home Premium. Everything went smoothy, except for the fact that my speakers no longer function, and in the bottom right hand corner by my clock there is a speaker with an X through it and when I hover over it, it says No Audio Output Device is Installed. I've tried almost everything I can think of... My laptop model is HP Pavillion dv5000 with Altec Lansing speakers, any help would be much appreciated!!!

ok, 1. i have my macbook charger plugged into an extension cord and it's way hot, is that normal/ok?
2. This is my first laptop, is it ok to run it off the wall power when available or should i use the battery till it runs down and than plug it in? i dont want to break it. what should i do?

Please give me as many details as possible especially from personal experience. I really like Counter Strike and would want to be able to play games like that but realize that brand new games may be a stretch.

I am between Dell and toshiba any recommendations on that would be helpfull as well, looking to spend 500-600.

my laptop is working really slow for the past few weeks and it is really loud(meaning that u can hear it from the inside, like its overheating or something, dont know if im making sense btw). why is it doing that? do i need to format it? if i do, will that fix the problem?

Hi friends,

I am a phd student and need a laptop. I need it only for academic purpose. So MS office and adobe reader are the requirements. I dont want it for movies or gaming or music download. From which site can I get a good deal? I want something less than 350. I already saw ebay and dealstobuy.com. They all are expensive.

It does NOT shut down randomly when it's just on battery power (just goes to black and shuts down abruptly.. definitely off).
I've had this computer for about 2 years. It was previously shutting down randomly in general, which I thought might be overheating, but I tried vacuuming out the fans and it helped only a tiny bit. It also didn't shut off this often (now it shuts down after about half an hour on a good day- this is when plugged in). What should I do?

Can anyone with knowledge of computers please suggest a good model/brand. I don't want a flimsy computer that will only last a year or 2. I know little about them, so any useful info you have is appreciated!! I want also one that has good memory so how much memory should I be looking for? I'll be the only one using it. I just plan on using it to check my email, install & send home photos to others, and view online tv shows.

I am running a HP DV6000 laptop with XP SP2, have an AMD Athanon 64 2Ghz processor. I have 1GB of RAM which I think is DDRII. I reinstalled XP, cleared out startup programs, have 35 processes running, cleaned out inside of laptop for dust (fans etc), but I still feel it is not as fast as I would like. Would a RAM upgrade be appropriate, or a waste of money? Thanks in advance

I ordered a new notebook from HP on December 1. It's gone to the factory for "building". They estimate it to be "built" by December 11. Does it really take 10 days to put it together? Or is that just a "safe" estimate? Do they usually take longer? Do they usually ship sooner than their expected build/ship dates?

Ok i have a wireless mouse on my desktop computer and I believe its full of crap (viruses, trojans, etc) because we download all kinds of music.. Well the desktop is only used on the weekend and i was thinking on getting the mouse for my laptop.. its brand new and well can it get a worm or virus from the other computer??? I need to know fast!

I want to take my laptop on the airplane when I leave in 2 weeks so my son can watch movies and stuff, but I am worried about my battery getting low is there some kind of battery charger thing that can carry a charge but doesnt need to be plugged into any kind of outlet?
