I am looking to build a laptop PC from scratch but i cant seem to find a website that sells the "case" (the exterior that wraps around the motherboard and all that good stuff and has the working LCD monitor attached to it). Does any1 know of a website that sells those?

No, because laptop cases are built for the specific mainboard, and are essentially designed around it.

Laptops and notebooks have NOT become common enough so that you can piece together a working sample from separate parts.

They are called barebones, and they sell for about $650.
The number one thing to remember is to get one with a good video card, you will not be able to upgrade it in the future.
Do not accept anything less than a nvidia 8600 or ATI HD2600.
I would go with intel, even though I like AMD more, intel simpley has more powerful laptop cpu's. according to benchmarks, the fastest turion X2's dont even come close to matching even the slower 1.66ghz and 1.88ghz intel core duo cpu's.
I have the 1.66ghz version and its powerful enough to play the most modern games so Im happy. The 2ghz core 2 duo is the best for the money, ponly $100 more than the 1.66ghz but still only about 5% slower than the fastest chip, the 2.4ghz core 2 duo, which runs for over $700.

I buy laptop parts online all the time. Just recently I bought LCD for my laptop and they worked really good and they're also affordable.
