I had come to the conclusion that you could not - but after reading the excellent answers to your question here (in particular Robles) I stand corrected.
I use a MacBook Pro which has no problem at all using Yahoo Instant Messenger by the way - even uses its own, built-in iSight camera automatically! It just works, without any faffing around!
(Which is precisely why I got a Mac in the first place: When you are learning how to use a computer, the last thing you need to be doing is faffing around!!!)

Hi, I develop plug-ins for MSN messenger and I found out that you can download MSN messenger from Macotopia.
Sadly, I don't think Window Live Messenger with webcam and VOIP will be available for a long while.
But I hope you can get news from this link:

Yes, there is a mac version of MSN Live Messenger here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.aspx?pid=msnmessenger
But I'd recommend to download Adium, it's a multiprotocol client that lets you sign in with multiple accounts of different protocols (MSN, AIM, Yahoo). The cool thing about adium is that you can apply skins to your contact list and messages window, you can customize a lot of things with very few clicks. You can get Adium here: http://www.adiumx.com/ and you can download any types of plugins/skins/soundsets here: http://www.adiumxtras.com

seems such as you're a sparkling MAC person. you will possibly desire to seek for downloads that designate MAC compatibility. frequently there will be a link for MAC's, yet there are some apps that MACS do no longer artwork with. there is already an answer that leads you to the wonderful place to get the mac version, so I won't complication with that. solid success, and Love Your MAC! :)

You would do better using iChat on your MacBook, much more reliable that msn. As to the person who laughed at you for getting a Mac - jokes on you, they beat everything else into the shade!
