Use a new microfiber cloth and a non-abrasive, residue free cleaning solution like windex.
Microfiber cloths are relatively cheap. If you don't want to pay for a specialty LCD screen cloth, you can get a big pack of these at a nearby auto department. These are real good for washing cars, as the material is ultra-gentle and was made to minimize scratches.
They sell the microfiber cloth and solution at computer stores, but the price is ridiculous for cloths you can get in the auto section, and a window cleaner from your cabinet.

A lot of people might suggest using alcohol, but I really don't recommend it. What you should do is head down to a local computer store such as Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples, or Circuit City and buy these little wipes that are made specifically for LCD screens. I suggest using this because the fibers on the wipes are soft enough to not leave streaks and actually clean up the LCD without damaging any of the material on it.
There can be more cost effective ways (though purchasing the wipes from a store might cost you only $6) such as going out and buying your own fiber cloth for and LCD, but just use the one-time-use cloths. It's fast and easy and you don't have to mess with any liquids. Make sure you DONT use Windex or any other household spray on the LCD. I ruined a 2-day old laptop like this 5 years ago. Easiest way is to just buy something that's produced specifically for LCDs!

Never put liquid right on the screen. I am a computer major and the best thing to use is a damped kleenex after you dust it... The windex window cloths work well also so try them all and see which you like the best.

particular, water is risk-free. do no longer USE WINDEX. Windex includes ammonia that may injury an liquid crystal demonstrate and reason it to show yellowish and at last close down the liquid crystal demonstrate. Use a moist fabric with water and wipe your demonstrate sparkling, make confident to no longer use too lots water so it does not get to any important areas of your laptop. Dry it off with a dry fabric or towel after wiping.

Cotton cloth (not a blend) is best. Other fibers (like paper based materials) even tissues will scratch eventually. If you are opnly going to clean it irregularly, dont worry. Use a weak solution of ammonia and water.

If you go to a store, Walmart, Best Buy, etc, you can get anti-static wipes for electronic equipment. Just be gentle when you push down, i'm sure you already knew that though! The wipes aren't very expensive!

Windex sprayed on a soft cloth. Do NOT spray directly onto the screen.
