I am working on a project for school using Powerpoint (2003). I have several different templates I need to add to different slides. Whenever I try to change the template to a slide it changes the whole presentation. How can I apply several different design templates to the same powerpoint presentation?

There is a PC on my network that I don't have admin rights to that has Limewire installed and it is taking up our monthly bandwidth usage. I have access to the secure Linksys and I was wondering if I could block the PCs Limewire downloads with the router.

I was just online and an alert box popped up that said "your computer is running slower than normal, it may be infected with viruses, spyware, or adware. MalwareAlarm will perform a quick and completely FREE scan of your system for malicious programs. Download MalwareAlarm for FREE now?". I clicked cancel, and it brought me to this site:

I don't know that much about malicious programming, and I don't want to just download something off the internet that I don't trust, so do you think this is a jip, or could it be legitimate?

Printer Sharing:

I have a wireless router with two PC’s connected to the internet wirelessly with no problem. One of the PC’s has a USB printer attached to it and this works fine.

How do set up the other wireless PC so that it can share the same printer? Simple step by step instructions would be much appreciated. Everyone tells me to just share the printer on the PC that is connected to the printer and on the other PC just add a printer by browsing but I cannot get it to work. Also I do not see either PC from one another. Am I missing something such as setting up a network?

My Norton Internet/Anti-virus subscription ends in under 3wks. Norton came as a package when I bought my computer 2yrs ago. I hear all the advantages of the free AVG security so what's your experience? I'm sick of Norton but, if I download AVG, surely I can't do this while I've still got Norton? If I wait till my Norton has expired and then download AVG, I'm scared I won't be protected immediately. Help!!!

So im trying to put the photos from my camera onto the pc. But when i try and do it a message keeps popping up saying 'cannot start TWAIN driver. Please ensure that the hardware and drivers have been successfully installed.' I dont know what this means? I know that i have installed all the drivers that i am supposed to for the camera. Do i need to download a TWAIN driver? If so where can i download this?

I have a desktop computer from 2005 that I want to take home from Thanksgiving, but the only monitor at home is from a 1999 computer.

They are the same brand, but for some reason the color coding scheme is different: my computer port where the monitor connects and its monitor plug are both blue, but the monitor at home has an orange plug.

Will they still work together? It's really important that I have my computer at home, but I don't want to lug this huge monitor home if I don't have to.

I just restarted my computer and all of my bookmarks on Firefox have vanished... does anyone know why this would happen? I didn't change, update, or upload anything prior to restarting my computer and I noticed on IE the bookmarks are still present but they are different because I don't use it as much as Firefox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My parents are getting a new desktop. They left it to me to find out the best deal but at the same time the best quality. So, I am looking for something no more than $1500. I just need it for basic uses. (my parents are 50 years old). Does anyone have any suggestions in brand name to go with. I have a large network of computers with an ip range from 10.2.148.0 - 10.2.150.255. I want to be able to ping every computer in that address poll and then here is the important part

To output any computer that responds to a ping to a text file with just the IP address of a computer with each additional ip address on a separate line. Ideally this could be done using a command line but I have no idea how to do this. At the moment I can only ping one computer and when I output it to a text file using > test.txt I get the ping response and lots of other information which is not needed.

I really hope this makes sense as I have a big project relying on your answers.

I have a USB WLAN card, which I use to get online on my laptop. When I connect the WLAN card, it instantly finds it and the windows zero config thing tells me that I am connected (But strangely I'm not recieving any data). When I open a web browser it just gives me an error saying it can't find the server.
The computer I'm using now is obviously working, so the connection should be getting through to the WLAN network.

I think it's a virus or trojan which is preventing me going online....I have run a full AVG virus-scan, but it hasn't solved the problem.....

Please please help!

My php files work fine online, but when I use WAMP5 my files gets errors. Two of them are:
Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in in C:\wamp\www\index.php on line 215
and Forbidden You don't have permission to access /< on this server.

I am the Network Administrator for a company that is moving to a new location and wishes to upgrade its computer systems and double the work force. Currently, the company has 35 employees running Windows 98 on a Windows NT 4.0 domain. 10 employees are in management, 5 are in programming, 5 are in sales, and 15 are in graphics and development. The company wishes to create a research team and provide me with an IT staff, as well as increase the size of the other teams. At the new location, the office is already wired for Internet connection. The Internet Service Provider has issued the company an IP address range of 128.174.7.0 to 128.174.7.64. I must provide a proposal that includes a Server solution, the amount of new computers, printers, and servers to purchase, and the Operating System to install. I must also create a plan for IP addresses of the computers and servers. Finally, I must add network printers and shared group permissions for printers and file server storage and be sure to provide the groups I create and the members of the groups.

I am new to this job straight out of college and am a little perplexed. I had some ideas, but I wanted to get some fellow IT pros opinions. Could someone please help me out in devising a simple enough plan?

My current system is going on 8 years and running Windows 98. I bought it from Dell using an e-check (they deduct the money directly from a checking account). Dell no longer has this policy and requires a CREDIT CARD, which I DO NOT HAVE. A local man that runs a computer store said he'd build me a system with Windows XP as he did not think Windows Vista was a good OS. Then someone else told me this was a bad idea. This guy might go out of business and if I have a problem with his computer, there will be no one that can or will want to repair a custom computer. All the systems in places like CompUSA, Best Buy and Circuit City all have Vista installed and no software. Please help me decide what to do. Thanks.
