Can anyone help me out on some good project ideas with detailed hints about my end-of-term project on C??

i'm a student of BS Electronic Engg..

parallel port interfacing or operating system (with focus on device driver recognition) projects are preferred..!

have just registed on my space and i cant change the background i have got these background codes for myspace but they just dont change i put them in the "about me " bit and when i try to upload a picture it wont let me, i press browse and nothing happens
can anyone help me?

When watching a Detailed List I see some squares that are white with a small red box top right. What is this? Bad Sectors on the Hard Drive or System Stuff that not moved? I have always wanted to know as they stay in their place.

Basicly I have made a simple program that can send binary bits out on a parallel port and I made a tester to see which pins light up etc...

it's very simple.... basicly what I am getting out of this circuit is a binary representation of the bit I send down the line.. for isntance if I send a binary bit of 3 down the line LED1 and LED 2 comes on!.

What I would like to do is make several devices all on 1 parallel port and I would like them to respond to certain binary paterns

for instance 01011001 might mean light 1 on

just imagine a series of lights and I want to control let's say 20 lights from 1 parellel port.

if you have a way of doing this I would be very greatful if you could let me know. Are there any IC's or any type of unit I can buy which could activate on certain binary paterns (Addresses)?

i have one machine that will not resolve yahoo.com. i tried flushing the dns and manually entering the appropriate ips for yahoo in the hosts file but still no luck. the troubled machine is using IE 6.0 with SP2 and unfortunately it is my ceo's laptop and he is not one for change so upgrading to ie 7 is not an option...help...anyone?! thanks!

Thanks- If I go to directory> properties> security. I get CREATOR OWNER showing as having permissions and, amongst other things, "full control".
If I try to delete this profile i get an error message saying that that CREATOR OWNER is still "inheriting" info. Does this mean someone out there has control of my machine? How do i delete the directory?

Currently we have DSL with the Qwest modem that acts as a DHCP router. We took a RJ45 cable to the back office where I plugged it into a Boca Net 16 hub and plugged in the computers we wanted to use. They all could acquire a network address and worked but the speed was 10 Mbps and I was wanting to use the Linksys because it would go 100 Mbps. After reading some posts, I plugged in the source cable from the Qwest router to a plane port (not the internet or source port) and put other computers on the remaining 3 ports but none could acquire a network address. I had changed and disabled the dhcp on the linksys also and rebooted the computers, still nothing.

Any ideas or help. I am currently back on the boca and it is working great, just slower.

I hear the computer struggeling to keep cool more now than a year ago, it has never been cleaned in two years.

How would I take it apart to dust it w/o messing anything up? Do I just unscrew one screw and clean it that way or take it completely apart.....?

What is recommended?
