dns cannot resolve yahoo.com?

i have one machine that will not resolve yahoo.com. i tried flushing the dns and manually entering the appropriate ips for yahoo in the hosts file but still no luck. the troubled machine is using IE 6.0 with SP2 and unfortunately it is my ceo's laptop and he is not one for change so upgrading to ie 7 is not an option...help...anyone?! thanks!

Connect to IE first. then go to yahoo and download from there.
