I wrote asking about connecting a laptop to cable, external modem ( Charter )but need to know if there is another way of going instead of wireless. I would like to access my internet options on my work lap top but it has been restrited by the system adminstartor? I got the lap top for free but it was locked for the prevoius user can I access the system to change config so that I can access my internet option menu under my tools tab? currently it says "operation cancelled contact ypur system administrator

I'm running Windows XP, and this morning the laptop started to not behave with our wireless network. First I thought the router's got issues, but my co-worker has no problem with the internet. I noticed that one minute everything works, the next minute I'd get disconnected. I opened the network dialog and see that about 10-20 packets are sent out every second, and maybe 1-2 packets would come in.

Has anyone had similar issues? I've already restarted the computer twice...

Ad-aware and Security Task Manager remove it temporarily. Symantec Antivirus does not detect it.

Ok, I used to use VSFTPD and it has a user_list feature that I could set to allow or deny.

Basically I want to do the same with ProFTPD, so I can only allow certain users to login to FTP. I'm not using PAM, and wish to use /etc/passwd.

How can this be done?

I have dsl through centurytel. The only 2 speed options that are avaiable in my area through century tell is 256k and 1.5
I ordered the 1.5 which is supposed to faster right?
well on my speed test it says 268 for downloads and 132 for uploads.
Is this correct? If not by how much fifference from what I am supposed to actually be geting?

Hi,

I've had a laptop on loan from school for the past 18 months but as I have left school now I have to return it so another student can use it. I'd just really like to know how I restore the original factory settings on my machine as I've transferred everything I need onto a memory stick but want to get rid of all the extra stuff so as not to slow it down.

Please let me know what option I have to select in control panel or whatever to do this.

I have a file that I can not delete. It is part of an old program I no longer need but when I go to delete it the message I get is...

"File is not accessible.
file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

I have tried to delete and to drag to the re-cycle bin but I keep getting the same message.
I really need to delete this as de-frag comes up with the same message identifing the file.
Ican not de-frag untill I have deleted this file and my system really needs a cleen up

Crazy idea. Challenge guys. I thought to compress my DVD films before copying them on a CD +RW (let's say two or three films) and copy them on one single DVD+RW cd and!!!! being able to play then on my simple DVD player (that cannot play DIVx files!) Do you think it's possible to do that? How?

How about music files? :)
