What do you suggest for a great karaoke computer program (lots of features) ? And where is a good place to get files? Also, can you convert your mp3s to kar files?

I don't consider kar files (midi) to be real karaoke. It's like singing along with a toy piano. The only "real" computer karaoke format is the MP3+G which are tracks ripped from actual karaoke CDG discs complete with full instrumentation, background harmonizing vocals (if they exist in the original song), and shaded in onscreen lyrics.

VanBasco's Karaoke Player is free and has lots of cool features.

Their site allows you to search for karaoke files, but they're getting hard to find. The same lawyers who drove out Napster and guitar tab sites are running the karaoke sites off the 'net.

A .kar file is actually a MIDI file, so you can't easily convert an MP3 to a .kar file.
