Does this happen when you visit certain websites or does it happen no matter what you do? Some websites double their popups so popup blockers can't stop them.

If it is happening no matter what you do than you have spyware or adware on your computer causing it.

Download and run Ad-Aware SE from www.lavasoft.com
Download and run Spybot Search & Destroy from www.download.com
Download and run Avast! Antivirus from www.avast.com

That combination of programs should wipe out every virus and spyware pestering you. AVG is decent at fighting viruses, but it offers no spyware protection.

This can be a real drag, when everything else fails, depending on which operating system you are running, try creating a new user profile and log in under it. If you do not have any more issues with the new profile, the problem is most likely environmental to the old user account. If the new account solves the problem, give it administrative rights and move your documents and Internet favorites to the new account. I have had some persistent pop-up spy-ware on my system before and after trying several different anti-virus solutions and anti-spy-ware solutions the pop-ups were persistent. I had to manually delete registry impregnation of the malicious software to completely eradicate the problem, not a solution for the faint of heart.

Good luck!

Jeff

A couple have seem to answered you correctly
but others suggest dangerous ways to get rid
of pop-up blockers. Especially if you have XP
you gotta be careful. If you're downloading things with sex terms you're actually unblocking the pop up blockers you have if you have any! Use filters as well as pop up blockers. For more info.. contact John Kunze
of Farmore Computing.. Jkunze@telus.net
he may charge you some $'s for his time. You can say Danial referred you to him!

Follow Joey's advice on the virus checker. AVG is a good product, free (for individual use), and easy to get.

Also, download AdAware (the free personal version) from Lavasoft. Run it (including checking for updates first) at least once a week to keep spyware at bay.

Also, download spywareblaster from javacool software. It runs in the background all the time and silently protects your system from spyware. Remember to look for updates when you're doing your weekly computer security chores.

Viruses and spyware suck. Using the above three products will make your life considerably less hassled.

What antivirus/antispy programs do you use?

I use: Ad-Aware SE, McAfee, BugDoctor, Registry Mechanic, CCleaner, Webroot Spy Sweeper, Spybot Search and Destroy.

Some of these are FREE.
