On windows, i know that a basic program is paint. On macs, what programs are comprable to paint and can also edit pictures or something of the sort. Please help!!

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this, I've been researching for several months and have come up with zilch, but I thought I'd give this a shot.
Whenever I turn on my computer (Toshiba Laptop 2535CDS) Win98SE I automatically get a screen that says running Microsoft Registry Checker. It gets past the first screen and then to the system.dat blue screen and nothing. It will not load windows and freezes there.
I have gone into safe mode and disabled the option at startup, I have lowered the memory to 16mb. I have gone into the prompt and tried to do the smartdrv, but nothing. I get the Himem.sys is not loaded. Check the Config.sys file for a device=himem.sys. I tried loading directly from the disc that came with the laptop, but it does nothing. I made a WIN98 boot disk and that did not work either. I even tried installing a new OS and it wouldn’t let me. Anyway, I would REALLY appreciate any help with this.
ps. I know I need a new computer, but I need help fixing this one

This is my last Macbook question I'm asking, since I'm getting it this week. But I need one more expert opinion, since I've gotten great feedback on the Macbook, OS X browsers and the Leopard in previous weeks. Since there's so many decisions to make, from prices $1100- $2500, monitor sizes 13" - 17", colors black /white, and the computer itself, I can't decide. So I'm asking you to give me full details on what you recommend for me, MacBook or MacBook Pro? Any pros/ cons, advantages/disadvantages? The difference between the two? Whoever gives me the most information gets 10 points for Best Answer, and the computer with the most votes wins and help me decide this week. I've realized this has been asked for.

Plus, when talking to Apple Support this weekend on my Netscape problems, they've recommended me to get the External Firewire Enclosure? Does anyone know what this is and how I would benefit from it? I know you have to pay extra for it. I have an External Disk Drive. Is that enough?

I would like to make it where anyone can go on a computer and they can use only the programs I put on there, i would like it to disable rightclicking on the desktop. I dont want them to change ANY form of settings i.e. Mouse settings, Wallpapers, screen savers, even add/remove programs. I would just like to be the administrator of the computer....how do i set it to it will work like this? Is there a program of some sort that will do this?

I don't want to use P2P software because it will harm my computer. I also don't want to pay 99 cents a song either. I have already tried myipodownloads.com, but that is a P2P filesharing system. Yahoo! Music is also very expensive to download songs and put them on an iPod.

I have downloaded the free Avg. and after a scan it says I have 5 viruses embedded. How do I clean them off as it looks like avg can't remove them if it says "embedded". I have also downloaded the free zonealarm and it seems to be working but need to get rid of the viruses.

HI I HOPE U WILL HELP ME WITH THIS SMALL PROB..... i have a broadband 100mbps connection .......(BSNL)dialup .....i changed my lan to 100mbps in properties ......i have a srs issiue....the bsnl guys gave me a MODEM ......which says STABILITY UNDER HIGH SPEED:DOWNLOAD/25Mbps ....UPLOAD 1Mbps.......... but i am confused i pay high internet prises ...and stuffs keep downloading at 25kbps at the max ...i really mean at the MAX .....infact i use download accelator ..........whats the dam logic i dont understand cause i have a broadband which clearly states 100mbps after connecting and it downloads stuffs at 10 -15 kbps...is it cause of the firewall i dont get it .......please help me ...i will really appritiate it .....thanx a lot for ur co-paration .....please reply
