my system got infected by virus and i need to reformat it again for the third time, would it be possible to use my xp cd once again for the 3rd time? how many times could it be able to be activated?

I just got a Creative Nano Plus mp3 and i plugged it in my Windows XP cp and my computer shows on the taskbar that there is new hardware but when I go to MY Computer the removable disk (mp3)is not there..I went to the Creative site and did all their support tips but nothing has worked so far, my friends laptop detected the mp3 so i think its my computer that has the problem. I already went to the Device Manager and the mp3 is not listed. Ive put permissions for Everyone. I updated the drivers, I tried all my usb ports, anybody else have any suggestions?

I want an expert opinion on someone in the field of editing if possible. I'm trying to build a really powerful computer. Something like this. 2x270 opteron, tyan mobo, 2 gb of memory 3hd = 2x74gb raptors and 1 300gb maxtor 16mb. Would this yield exceptional results for editing video and for using after effects.
