I have a dell computer. It is pretty new. The DVD/CD Drive is not responding when I press the open/close button and when I do get it open it does not read the disk. It doesn't respond at at all. Any suggestions. If I take it to get fixed would that cost more than buying an external drive?

when im on yahoo messenger (using windows 2000) i can't recieve IM's i can send them and they can be seen on the other persons screen.But when someone sends me one i get a script error come up and i cant see what the other person has wrote.
