I was a scam victim and I used western union to transfer money in the process.

You cannot file criminal charges, the district attorney does that.
What you can do is call the police and tell them what happened.
The only thing you can do on your own is to bring a civil suit against the people who scammed you. I would call the police.
How else are the authorities going to know what happened to you.

An individual can not file criminal charges against anyone. An individual can only file civil sharges. They can bring criminal behavior/actiosn to the attention of the autorities and the autorites can file criminal charges if they decide there is enough evidence.

Put a fraud alert on your credit report by calling one of the credit reporting agencies.
